Walls and Castles
It has been said that a man is the king of his castle and the woman is the queen of hers. In olden times, people used to work hard to acquire larger and larger houses, until eventually some literally lived in a castle.
Now from what we know about those times, what did every castle have around it? A wall or a moat.
Why did they have a wall or moat? It was to keep out those infamous marauding bands.
Let me ask you, how effective would the wall be if it was twenty feet high on one side and only two feet high on the other? Or a moat that was twelve feed deep on one side and six inches deep on another.
Suppose that a wall of the correct height was built, but every so often there was a hole large enough to let a horse and rider through. How effective would that be?
Today it is highly impractical to have a 20' wall or a moat around your property.
What serves as the wall today is insurance!
A properly structured insurance program should allow everyone to have a wall that is of the right height for their particular castle. It shouldn't be too big, nor too small. Nor should it have holes. What we may compare to holes in your wall today would be things like:
- A major car wreck
- A house fire
- Premature death
- Lengthy disability
- Long-term illness
- Lawsuit
