Careers in Energy | October 15-19

 

Almost half of today's energy workforce will be retiring in the next decade. As technology within the industry quickly increases, so does the need for a tech-savvy workforce to support high-skill, high-wage jobs. The right education and training will provide men and women a rewarding, well-paying career that benefits millions of people every day.

Fantastic Opportunity for High School aged Girl Scouts!

GSEWNI has received a grant to fully fund a Girl Scout FIRST Tech Challenge team for a Senior or Ambassador troop. FTC is an exciting robotic based program that uses real world technology and programming. Geared towards High School students, it can act as a bridge between the popular First Lego League (FLL) and the intense FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). Students with no previous experience with FIRST or other technology can be successful. Using powerful DC motors and the new Tetrix system created by Pitsco it will allow for a wide range of exciting machines to be built.

INCREDIBLE CORN MAZE | Post Falls

Save $1 on your visit to the Incredible Corn Maze and earn $1 for Girl Scouts for each person in your party. This offer is valid September 21-October 31 each afternoon before 6 p.m. 

 

Girl Scouts has been invited to host an activity table any Saturday or Sunday afternoon. If your troop would like to volunteer to lead a kid's activity (we'll provide the supplies), you and your girls can attend the Incredible Corn Maze for free. This activity can be counted as "Council in the Community" hours. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Peggy McDonald, 800-827-9478, ext. 230. 

ZOO SNOOZE | Flex Program (Date to be arranged by individual troops)

Spend the night in the Zoomazium at the Woodland Park Zoo and find out what the animals do after dark.   Zoomazium is an indoor, all-weather facility that incorporates spectacular multimedia features with fun, interactive nature-themed areas devoted to play and learning. MORE>

LIVINGSTONES ROCK RANCH

October 13 | 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

During the adventure tour, Girl Scouts will have the opportunity to hike through fields of wild flowers and pine forest while conversing about local geological formative events. Then it's on to the Mineral Museum and Identification Lab, where girls will try hands-on experiments. The best part of the day is heading to Gem Hill to dig for iron pyrite, quartz and fluorite crystals, obsidian, and many more exciting rocks and minerals.

SPOOKY SCIENCE NIGHT! | Program Center, Spokane, WA

October 26 | 6 - 8 p.m.

Celebrate the chills and thrills of Halloween at our Spooky Science Night, where creepy chemistry and mysterious science combine to provide a hauntingly good time. Our mad scientists will be roaming through the building with bubbling potions, wicked brews, spectacular special effects and fantastic demonstrations. Guests can look forward to making gooey, lowing slime, exploring mystery boxes filled with eerie items and creating an amazing fortune teller. Wear your costumes to make it a truly spooktacular night! GYMNASTICS FUN | Spokane Gymnastics, WA

November 10 | Two sessions: 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.

If you caught the gymnastics bug watching the Olympics, now is your chance to try it on your own. This one hour class will give girls a chance to try floor exercises, balance beam, uneven bars and vault. At the end of the class, each participating student receives a patch of gymnastic accomplishment! MORE>

Experience Disney's hilarious hair-raising escapade as all your favorite princesses take to the ice, including a spectacular finale at the ultimate Disney Princess event of a lifetime!. SPOKANE CHIEFS GIRL SCOUT FAMILY NIGHT | Spokane, WA

Come watch your Spokane Chiefs as they play a fast paced, exciting game against their division rivals the Tri-City Americans! All Girl Scout families will receive the group price on tickets and $1 from each ticket sold comes back to Girl Scouts Eastern Washington & Northern Idaho!
