A Message from our CEO
Home is Where the Heart is
 | |
Dan Risch, CEO |
At our Leadership Retreat on December 7, Pastor David Echelbarger from Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church encouraged Lincoln Lutheran to create a sense of 'home' for the people we serve: a home that includes warmth, security, health, faith and loving relationships.
We are actively planning the creation of a new home called 'Siena on the Lake' in partnership with the Racine Dominicans, located in Caledonia. We envision Siena on the Lake to be a unique community that promotes lifelong personal enrichment of the body, mind and spirit. The Racine Dominican specific portion will begin construction in 2012. The community portion will begin marketing in 2012 as well. Learn more about this new community and joint partnership.
We also celebrated the new donor recognition plaque at our Atrium and Bay Pointe community recently. I was very gratified to hear so many residents compliment the community for its beauty, staff, security and sense of 'home'. Special offers are now available for new residents at the Atrium to make living there even more attractive.
To each of you, have a blessed and prosperous holiday season. From our home to yours - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Dan Risch, CEO |

7th Annual Wine Tasting a Success!
We would like to thank all those who attended the Service Coordinators' 7th Annual Wine Tasting Fundraiser at Uncorkt on November 17. A special thank you to our sponsors Winter Services, Guetzke & Associates, Beggi, Inc., Last Stop Motors and Pinkalla Auto Solutions. Due to the great support, we were able to raise over $2,700 - an increase of 35 percent from last year's event. The funds raised will support the Service Coordinator program at our affordable apartment communities which aids residents by enhancing their independence and quality of life. We hope to see you next year!

Police Bands Perform Concert at the Atrium
On September 23, Lincoln Lutheran and the Racine's Sister City Planning Council hosted a joint concert performance in the courtyard between the Atrium and Lincoln Villas with the Aalborg Police Band and the Milwaukee Police Band.
Aalborg, one of Racine's four sister cities and Denmark's third largest city mark the town with festivities and music year round. The Aalborg Police Band can trace its history back to 1920 when a group of policemen started playing together on stringed instruments. The Milwaukee Police Band, the oldest performing police band in the United States, played its first concert as the Milwaukee Police Band before members of the department in April of 1898. The Atrium hopes to offer more outdoor activities like this in the future.

Make Your Move to the Atrium Today!
Are you ready to minimize home maintenance and upkeep this winter season? If you've ever considered living at the Atrium, now is the time to make your move. Besides saving on heating and snow removal costs, the Atrium is now offering once-in-a-lifetime special entrance payment options that will help you secure a beautiful one or two bedroom apartment of your choice.
As you are aware, our past practice has been to accept 10% down on an entrance fee and allow up to four months for payment of the balance prior to move in. With the housing market causing people to exercise more caution, the Atrium is offering a special payment plan where you can put as little as 10% of the entrance fee down, move-in tomorrow and have up to a full year to pay the remainder of the balance, OR, if preferred, pay the entrance fee within four months and receive six months FREE rent. Both of these options give you reprieve of either more time, or more cash to lessen the worry for you.
Why spend one more winter in your home, when you can get out of the cold this winter and into a warm and welcoming Lincoln Lutheran community. Contact Campus Director, Pam Lidington at (262) 639-1100 for more information. |

A Community of Giving
'Tis the season when Lincoln Lutheran employees wear warm smiles and help those in need. Team members participated in several giving opportunities to help others less fortunate in the Racine Community.
We are honored to have such wonderful employees with warm and generous hearts.
Apartment Team Delivers Toys for Tots
As part of an annual tradition, the team at our affordable apartment communities got in the giving spirit by distributing toys for the Tex Reynolds' Toys for Tots program. The team gathered up gifts and transported them in little red wagons to program participants' vehicles. Toys for Tots' is a nonprofit organization with the sole purpose to ensure every child in need in the Racine area has a wonderful holiday season. Thousands of families donate unneeded, unused and repairable toys to the program each year. Volunteers then restore and package the toys for families to pick up.

A Giving Tree of Gifts This year we were able to help 23 children have new, warm clothes for the winter season. Team members sponsored children through the Giving Tree Program, a component of the Tex Reynolds' Toys for Tots program and the Corporate Volunteer Council of Racine (CVCR). Each year the program asks for new gifts, preferably clothing that is distributed to underprivileged youth in Racine County.

Living United for Racine County
To inspire hope for a better tomorrow, team members participated in a two-week long campaign raising more than $8,400 for the United Way of Racine County. Participants got in the spirit with great fundraising activities and awareness building at each of our respective communities and programs. Team members were given the option of contributing through one-time donations or payroll deduction.
In an exciting effort to raise money, Becker Shoop, our skilled nursing and memory care community, held a sausage race with the Klement's Famous Racing Sausages seen at the Milwaukee Brewers' games. Team members were able to bet on their favorite racing sausage and those who selected the winning sausage were entered in a 50/50 raffle.

Put a Little Jingle In Your Step This Winter By Helping Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels needs additional help, particularly over the next four months. Consider volunteering for a short-term commitment to cover the winter months while several of our volunteers head for warmer climates.
Meals are delivered Monday through Friday between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Volunteers typically serve one route per week. Training and gas stipend are provided.
Lincoln Lutheran holds the Senior Nutrition Program Contract with the Racine County Human Service Department.
