Meet Onyx Slaton - A young Labrador Retriever who made headlines last September in a horrific case of animal abuse. Animal control officers said his owners tried to amputate his hind leg without anesthesia after he was hit by a car.
Fast forward 5 months...NBC KGET News traveled to Los Angeles a few weeks ago to meet with Onyx and bring you this remarkable story of survival and recovery.

10 Tips for a Healthy Smile (on your Pet!) | |
Since February is Pet Dental Month at Westlake Village Animal Hospital, we found these great oral hygiene tips. Don't fur-get to regularly schedule your pet's teeth cleaning, at Westlake Village Animal Hospital Anesthetic and non-anesthetic proceduresare available (and a very nice savings coupon below.)
You'll have a very kissable pet with a dazzling smile in no time!
1. The Breath Test-Sniff your pet's breath. Not a field of lilies? That's okay-normal pet-breath isn't particularly fresh-smelling. However, if their breath is especially offensive and is accompanied by a loss of appetite, vomiting or excessive drinking or urinating, it's a good idea to take your pooch to the vet.

Meet Our New Hospital Manager

Westlake Village Animal Hospital is proud to announce Jennifer Hammervold-Chung as the new Hospital Manager.
Jennifer is a California native and received her B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Jennifer is a welcome addition as our new Practice Manager with over 15 years experience in the veterinary field. She is currently working on her certification in Veterinary Practice Management. Jennifer is married to Sean and they have two young children, Sevilyn and Dante. They also have an African Spurred Tortoise named "Tortellini" and a Greater Swiss Mountain dog named "Dax". Jennifer enjoys spending all her spare time being outdoors with her family.

Roxy Bays
2002-2012
Roxy, an Anatolian Shepherd Mix was adopted from the Agoura Shelter at 9 months old. She lived with 2 cats and a Chihuahua. She loved the snow and especially being goofy. Her favorite toy was a rubber chicken that she would carry gently in her mouth so it would not squeak- She would get very upset if someone else squeaked it and would try to "save" it from them. She loved The Barkley Pet Hotel Doggie Day Camp and visited 5 days a week almost from the day they opened. Diagnosed with cancer Dec. 26th, she passed away at home on Jan. 22nd.
Rest in Peace Roxy.
We will miss you dearly. |
