END OF FEBRUARY AURORAS: February came to an end with a flourish of auroras. A CME impact followed by a gusty solar wind stream have combined to produce bright lights around the Arctic Circle on Feb. 26-28. Photographer Nenne Åman recorded the scene last night in Revi, Sweden.

LEAP!

Time is not experienced, only the Now is experienced - Eckhart Tolle

Yesterday was Leap Day.  We travel on our Earth 365 1/4 days to make one orbit around our Sun... one lap around = one year.  So every four years, we're presented with an extra day to ensure our calendars and seasons fit nicely into an organized structure of time.   We create a day to Leap.

...to spring or bound upward; jump
...to change from one place or state or subject to another
...to jump quickly from one place to another
...a sudden large increase or advance
...a light, self-propelled movement upwards or forwards
...an abrupt shift or transition

We're all presented with conditions and events in our lives which require us to expand our awareness, shift our perspective; make  leaps in thinking, understanding, beliefs.   Can you imagine living in a time not too long ago, when it was believed that our Earth was flat?  Imagine what it was like to shift awareness to accept that the Earth was NOT flat, but round.  Big leap.

One thing we can be certain of is change.  Change can seem confusing and chaotic, but we live in a universe that is in a constant state of change.... Grand changes,  microscopic changes and everything in between.  Let go, trust, embrace change and try not to hold on too tightly to the other stuff.... it's ok to take a big leap!  We are all here doing it together, collectively creating and participating in this epic journey.

Wishing you the lightest and brightest illuminations in this time of unlimited possibilities.
Thanks for being here... and HAPPY LEAPING!!!

Jala Neti

Keep your Nose Clean

Jala Neti is a process of cleaning the nasal passage with flowing salt water. Using a neti pot, lightly salted water is poured into one nostril and allowed to flow out of the other nostril.

The benefits of jala neti include preventing colds and sinusitis, removing headaches and  insomnia, soothing the nervous system.

Radiant Heart Breathing

(I'm including this meditation again this month...by special request)

Sit quietly in any comfortable position with your eyes closed.  Allow your legs to feel heavy and grounded.  If you are sitting in a chair, keep your feet securely on the floor and feel your buttocks balanced evenly.  Feel your tailbone becoming heavy and at the same time become aware of a sensation of lightness at the crown of your head.  Breathe comfortably and naturally.

Direct your attention to the area of your heart.  Imagine your breath originating in the center of your heart.  You may want to imagine a color or peaceful image here.

As you inhale slowly, imagine your breath coming in from all directions into your heart.

As you exhale slowly, send your breath out in all directions from the centerpoint of your heart.

Continue this in an even, slow and steady pace.

As you become more relaxed and comfortable, imagine your breath inhaling into a fine point of brilliant light deep within your heart space.  Pause.

As you smoothly exhale,  imagine all of your breath traveling outward as far as you can send it.... out to the farthest reaches of the cosmos.  Pause.

Continue to smoothly and evenly breathe in to a very fine point within your heart, and exhale into the vast distance.

Imagine your breath drawing deeper and deeper into the core of your heart as you inhale and pause, and sending your breath farther and farther away into the distance as you exhale and pause.

As your meditation feels complete, begin to breathe normally and naturally then very slowly open your eyes.  Sit quietly as you become fully aware of your body, and your physical surroundings.  Notice any changes or sensations that you may be feeling. Stretch and move your body, and smile.

Hridaya Mudra

You may wish to place your hands in Hridaya Mudra while doing this heart-opening practice.  This mudra facilitates channeling prana into the heart.

Place the tips of the index fingers at the root of the thumbs. Very gently press the tips of the thumbs into the tips of the middle and ring fingers. The pinkie finger stays straight. Place the hands on the knees with the palms facing upward. Close the eyes, be still, and breathe into the area of the chest.

To further enhance the practice, you may wish to add the following mantra: hrim, shrim, klim

Hrim (hreem) is the energy of the heart

Srim (shreem) is the devotion of the heart

Klim (kleem) is the love and wishes of the heart

The mantra may be recited aloud or silently, and it should be the same duration as the breath.
