      Fall Greetings!
Aaaah... yes, it's beginning to look and feel like autumn here in the desert (finally!!!).  Our mornings and evenings are cool and people are out and about during all times of the day. Windows are opening and air conditioners are getting a well-deserved rest.
We're in a time of new beginnings, and in order to bring in the new, many of our old patterns and structures need to be freshened up, rejuvenated, and cleared away entirely.  All over our planet, we're experiencing an infinite range of shifts and changes - massive and subtle, tough and easy, sorrowful and joyful.  As we learn to find our center, and learn to base our perspective and point of view from our center, we learn to get less caught up in external circumstances and listen more to the internal guidance within all of us.  Enjoy the beauty, clarity and wisdom of your own perfect centerpoint.

Find Your Internal Gyroscope

...and learn to meditate

As a child, I was fascinated by a small toy... the gyroscope.  It's a simple little device... amazing and wonderful!

Gyroscope
Gyroscope

So what does a gyroscope have to do with meditation?  It all has to do with finding your center, observing, witnessing.  As a gyroscope spins (just as we are moving and changing) it remains perfectly balanced.  It's center point remains still, fixed and unchanging while the outer parts go swirling, twirling, and spiraling out in all directions.  If you can become aware of your own personal center... the part of you deep inside that remains absolutely clear and still and unchanging...  you can develop the ability to stay tranquil, serene, stable, and fully present in the midst of the full spectrum of life's circumstances.

Many of us have had an experience of finding our own center point, but most of the time, that experience doesn't last for very long before our mind wanders or becomes distracted.  It is the mind's nature to wander, but we can learn to observe our thoughts without chasing after them and spinning out of balance.

Try this today:

*Spend a few quiet moments alone remaining still with your eyes closed.  *Breathe slowly and evenly.

*Begin to feel and observe your breath coming in through the nostrils up to an inner point inside your head between your eyebrows.  Slowly exhale from your eyebrow center out through the nostrils.

*If your mind begins to wander, gently bring your attention back to observing your breath coming in and out of your nostrils.

As you go throughout the activities of your day, try remaining aware of your center point in all that you do.  Observe your thoughts, reactions and emotions.  With practice you'll find yourself remaining in your point of balance throughout any situation.... like a gyroscope:).

"When the mind is silent and peaceful it becomes very powerful.  It can become a receptor of bliss and wisdom enabling life to become a spontaneous flow and expression of joy and harmony.  However this inner silence cannot arise while there is a continual stream of disturbing thoughts and emotions.  All this inner noise of thoughts and emotions has to be removed before one can truly experience the soundless sound of inner silence."  Swami Satyananda Saraswati

Yogi Facelift?????

yogi facelift

....Yes,  a yogi facelift and oh so much more!!

Allow me to welcome you to the fun, relaxing, therapeutic, and Liberating (with a capital L) world of yoga ropes!  I was first exposed to the inversion sling and rope wall through my beautiful teacher, Moon Park.  During my first 200 hr. teacher training program, Moon, well into her 60's at the time, would effortlessly slide into the yoga sling, turn herself upside down and immediately access a state of bliss, radiance and tranquility.  She would say with a beautiful, youthful smile, "Ahhh, now this is how the yogis get a facelift!"

Practicing with ropes allows an effect of tractioning the spine and joints, reducing compression and encouraging freedom.  Hanging out on the yoga ropes is FUN, and good for you!!!  (But, pssst.... just saying.... it can become habit-forming:)

New Moon Garden

We planted this lovely organic vegetable garden yesterday on the new moon.  My friend with a green thumb, Master Gardner, Raw Food Chef, and Yogi Extraordinaire, Russel Jones, was inspired to plant the garden in a continuous sprial shape.  We're going to enjoy kale, spinach, swiss chard, eggplant, lettuce, carrots, onions and tomatoes!  If you'd like to get a garden going, and would like the help of a truly amazing garden specialist, I highly recommend Russel.  Here's his email:  omnidexterous@gmail.com

 Vastu Tip of the Month

vastu

Check out the very center location of your home.  Ideally, the center should be open, airy and free from any obstructions.  As you can see from the chart above, the element associated with the center of your home is SPACE.  This area is also considered the heart and soul of your home.

Keep this area clean - pristine.  Create balance and harmony here by removing all clutter and free up the space by moving furniture and emptying closets.  Creating SPACE is a good thing:)
