The following God Story illustrates how ACCTS core values: Biblically Based; Spirit Led; Prayer Centered; and People Focused help accomplish our mission of assisting in the development of military Christian leaders in the armed forces of the world, and the establishment and development of military Christian fellowships. "I have a dream that someday every Spanish, Portuguese and English speaking nation in Latin America and the Caribbean will have a national Military Christian Fellowship (MCF). I have a dream that someday each of those Military Christian Fellowships will have a clear vision of a reason for existence that includes sharing the gospel with everyone in its nation's military and security forces and building up its members to spiritual maturity. I have a dream that someday each of those Military Christian Fellowships will develop a strategy for achieving the vision that includes participation by retirees, support by wives, cooperation with chaplains, an impact at senior service schools, a witness at basic training centers, and a special ministry at service academies to challenge future officers to see themselves as military missionaries and the next generation of MCF leaders. I have a dream that someday AMCF will provide regional conferences for those Military Christian Fellowships about every two years. I have a dream that someday ACCTS will have three staff couples working together in this region, one each in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean, and that these will visit every nation in the region at least once every three years." This vision statement was crafted in the early 80's by an ACCTS staff couple working with the Military Christian Fellowship (MCF) in Chile. Over the next 30 years, they continued to develop deep personal relationships with military Christian Leaders across South and Central America and the Caribbean through frequent visits, phone calls, letters, and attendance at regional conferences to share their vision and accomplish ACCTS' mission. Their dream has been realized as God has now developed MCFs in 28 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean, most of which have become mature and effective. Indigenous MCF leaders coordinate regional conferences every odd year in Central America, with even year conferences in South America, and biennial Caribbean Conferences to share best practices, grow in their faith, and provide mutual encouragement through prayer and Bible Study. Hundreds of thousands of these MCF members also work with ACCTS and other military ministries to spread the Gospel across the region on mission trips, host chaplain training courses, and develop strong Christian leaders in the uniformed services. |
