The Vice-President of the Association of Military Christian Fellowships for the North American
Region (US, Canada, & non-Spanish speaking Caribbean countries) has set the final week of January as a Time of Prayer and Fasting for military personnel, veterans, and their families. He asks that churches, chaplains, para-churches, military Christian Fellowships, and other groups of believers devote some or all of their regular meetings this week to prayer and fasting for military families.
He also encourages those who are so moved to organize special prayer events in their homes, churches, and communities such as a community "Hour of Prayer;" 24/7 Prayer Vigils for military families; the use of social media to encourage others to become involved in praying for military members, veterans and their families; and any other initiatives which will serve to build a "Wall of Prayer" around the military community in their time of need.
Pray for the transformation of individuals, chaplains, military Christian fellowships, our nations and the world, asking the Lord to show us how we can be both individually and severally "transformed by the renewing of our minds . . . [so we] will be able to test and approve what God's will is - His good, pleasing, and perfect will." (Rom. 12:2)
Pray for the increasingly desperate situations facing military families and veterans. Ask the Lord to show us how we can best minister to their needs. Finally, pray for our enemies. Ask the Lord to show us how we can begin to minister to them in the matchless love of Christ. For specific prayer needs during this week, go to www.accts.org.
