Prayer for Military Families

The World Day of Prayer

AMCFThe President of the worldwide Association of Military Christian Fellowships (AMCF) has set September 17 as a World Day of Prayer for Military Families. He asks that the Military Christian Fellowships in 130 nations around the globe join him in prayer at noon local time, so that the whole earth will be blanketed in prayer on that day.  Pray also for the 66 nations which do not yet have a Military Christian Fellowship to minister to their military families.

9-11

Yesterday marked the 10th anniversary of the horrific events in New York City, Washington, DC, and Shanksville, PA when our country was so brutally attacked by Al Qaeda terrorists.  Although our military forces have now captured or killed many of those who perpetrated these cowardly acts of violence, we continue to battle others who seek to harm us.

As we remember and reflect on these events, let us also recall the courage and the dedication to duty of our military forces and their families who serve around the world to combat these extremists in their camps and expensive hideouts.  We owe a special debt of thanks to the courageous and skillful Navy Seals who eliminated one source of much misery for military families last May 1st in a daring raid on Usama Bin Laden's Pakistani mansion.

- God of the Universe, as military Christians pause to pray at noon on Saturday, we humbly ask that in your mercy, you will hear our prayer.  Bless military families around the globe, especially in those countries without a Military Christian Fellowship.

- Lord, as we try to understand the terrible events of 10 years ago, we give you the praise and glory for being our sovereign God, knowing that vengeance is yours, and that we have but to trust in you.

- Heavenly Father, We ask your abundant grace and mercy this week not only on those who attacked us, but also on the military personnel and their families who now serve at great personal sacrifice to prevent further attacks.

- Jehovah Shalom, you alone are the source of peace, and we pray that it may come soon.
