Many Christians are fighting in Afghanistan, and have perhaps the best insight into how to pray for those engaged on both sides of the conflict.

A Marine now on the ground in that troubled nation recently sent this week's prayer request to his parents noting that, ". . . the hope for ultimate victory here, like in Iraq, is that the people finally have enough, and throw in their lot against the Taliban. Just like with our Civil War, if there is any long-term hope for this country, then there must be reconciliation between those who have fought on both sides.
Please send my deep thanks to those who are praying; we are seeing daily results from these prayers, and I sense the beginning of hope here. We're also excited about Bin Laden. Perhaps our Father will use this event to mark a turning point, just as he did in Iraq after Zarkawi was killed, and do what only He can do to bring change to this hurting country.
I believe all of these things are examples of God answering people's prayers that the enemy be foiled and that our forces emerge victorious. I've been reading in Joshua lately about how God repeatedly gives, and God repeatedly takes away, regardless of the odds. Pray that I will be strong in the Lord for my Marines, and remain humble and teachable, for there is much still to do.
