We are about to begin a journey of prayer for a very troubled nation, Afghanistan, and the issues there are complex. Our country and the other NATO nations which comprise the International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) are intimately involved in the future of this country, and thousands of lives may be at stake. Although we will be praying daily for our enemies, only God knows what role we might play in this struggle by committing to pray during the 40 days of Lent in 2011.

 

Each day you will receive an e-mail covering some aspect of Afghanistan. At the bottom of the e-mail will be four prayer requests, in four categories:


  • Prayer for someone in the Afghan Government
  • Prayer for someone or some situation in the ISAF
  • Prayer for someone or some situation in the Taliban
  • Prayer for some aspect of the daily Afghan topic 

DAY ONE PRAYERS

- Afghan President Karzaiʼs government controls only a small portion of Afghanistan. May

he lead Afghanistan out of corruption and unify the Afghan people as a nation.

- As Commander in Chief, President Obama must make the critical decisions for US

involvement in Afghanistan. Pray for him to have wisdom in listening to his advisors.

- We cannot understand Osama Bin Ladenʼs motivation for killing thousands of civilians,

but we pray today, Lord, that You would speak your truth to him.

- Lord we seek your blessings on this prayer campaign and ask you will lead many people

to become a part of it.
