NAC&U Welcomes Three New Members at Summer Institute 2012

In addition to three days of thought-provoking sessions, the Summer Institute included the exciting addition of three new members to NAC&U. Please help us welcome John Carroll University, University Heights, OH;  Manhattan College, Riverdale, NY; and Widener University, Chester, PA to the consortium.

"Our newly elected members share our common goal of integrating classroom learning with real-world experience. We are pleased to have them join us as it will expand the breadth of knowledge and expertise within our consortium," said Nancy Hensel, president of NAC&U. "We look forward to their input into our ongoing conversation on how NAC&U members can adapt to higher education's changing landscape while staying true to our commitment to provide the best outcomes for our students."

Summer Institute 2012 Content and Photos
We love to see as many faces as possible at the Summer Institute, but we know it's a busy time of year so we're bringing as much of the Institute to you as possible.

On our Summer Institute 2012 page, you'll find content (PowerPoint slides and links to videos) and responses for the three plenary speakers. There is also a response paper to our Teagle panel and a write-up of the Teagle presentation and how it tied into the conference theme.

And then for a little fun -- view our photo album on Facebook. Don't forget to "like" us on Facebook while you're there!

Thank you to Westminster College for doing a fantastic job hosting this year's Summer Institute. And thank you to everyone who contributed a write-up or response paper to our Summer Institute 2012 page. This is our most robust post-event page to date, thanks to your insight and comments.
Harold Baillie and Levester Johnson
Harold Baillie, The University of Scranton, and Levester Johnson, Butler University, share a laugh between sessions. The University of Scranton will host Summer Institute 2013.

Pacific Lutheran Welcomes Tom Krise as President

Faculty, staff and students enthusiastically greeted President Thomas Krise and Patricia Krise as he became the 13th president of Pacific Lutheran University. Krise thanked the campus community for the turnout, and then turned to one of his favorite topics: The importance of a liberal arts education. Read more.

Ithaca College CFO Carl Sgrecci to Retire
During his 45 years at Ithaca College as a student, teacher and administrator, Carl Sgrecci has become as much of an institution as the College itself.

"Carl has been a most unusual chief financial officer," noted Ithaca College President Tom Rochon. "He began his IC career as a member of the faculty, and his campus presentations on our finances always bear the marks of a true educator. We have been fortunate to have a CFO for whom the College is so much more than a balance sheet. Carl's love for the college means that he always places people first."

Sgrecci's retirement will be effective August 31, 2013. Read more.

NAC&U Members' Olympic Connections
Members of the Nazareth College Chamber Singers, the Nazareth College Women's Chorus, and the Nazareth College Men's Chorus performed in a pre-Olympic Games concert series in London. Nazareth was one of only six choirs in the U.S. selected to perform and the only college choir invited to attend.

Meghan Musnicki, a 2005 Ithaca College graduate, has been named to the 2012 U.S. Rowing Olympic Team and will compete in the women's eight boat at this summer's Olympic Games in London. A first-time Olympian, Musnicki will be part of the United States' efforts to defend its gold medal from the 2008 Olympics.

Westminster Re-structures Enrollment Management
Westminster College has announced a restructure of its enrollment management office, appointing Gary Daynes, Ph.D., as vice president for Strategic Outreach and Enrollment, and Elizabeth Key as associate vice president for Enrollment Management. Read more.
