| Regional Prescription Drug Take Back | | |
Kristina Clark is the Chairwoman of the Region 5 South Prevention Advisory Council. A proposed regional prevention event is a regional drug take back tentatively scheduled for April. If you are interested in helping with this effort please reply to this e-mail. More information will be announced in the near future.

Social Norms Campaign
CCADC will be continuing our social norms campaign. Every 2-4 months a new drug brief containing local data, posters and pamphlets will be given to schools and teachers. Through student surveys we know that most students are not exposed to anti-drug messages on a daily basis. This is our effort in combating this issue in our community. The first drug brief will continue the Red Ribbon Week theme that "Most Outstanding Red Raiders Do Not Drink."
We are looking for creative people to help with posters and the layout of the drug brief. If you would like to help please reply to this e-mail. |

Greetings!
We hope your 2011 is off and running much like ours. We would first like to thank those new and returning coalition members that came to the January meeting. It was a great turn out. Please take a moment to read the January newsletter. It will give you information that was discussed at the monthly meeting as well as updates.
We thank all of our coalition members. It is because of you CCADC is a great coalition.
Thank you, Kristina & Christina

 | CCADC to take 2 CCCHS students to D.C. | CCADC hosted a essay contest to take two students from Coffee County to the CADCA (Community Anti-Drug Coalition of America) 2011 Forum. It was a difficult process. We have so many passionate students in Coffee County. However, after much deliberation two CCCHS students were picked. We would like to congratulate Dylan Johnson (sophomore) and Caleb Baker (freshman). They will leave with 5 coalition members on February 6th to Washington D.C.
While at the Forum the students will attend the National Youth Leadership Initiative. This intensive competency-based leadership training teaches strategies to create and nurture the growth of committed young leaders through their work within coalitions. The NYLI experience helps youth and their adult coaches develop an action plan that clearly defines strategies that young leaders will carry out to address the problems and goals that the coalition is striving to affect.
The students will give an update on their experiences at our February monthly meeting.

 | Parents Who Host STAT Update |
On January 6th we had a very successful STAT (Short-term Action Team) meeting regarding our Parents Who Host Lose the Most initiative. The team set a date of February 19th at 9am (at CCACD office) to begin the first round of sticker shock. Previously CCADC sent out interest cards to vendors with a licence to sell beer. Although only a few vendors responded their need for stickers is great. Our youth coalition, Positive Peer Pressure/P-cubed, will be assisting us with this effort. Vendors will receive a sticker per case of beer with extras for new cases, table tents, posters, and window clings.
Also, in an effort to raise awareness to parents hosting under-age drinking parties, CCADC wrote an Op-Ed that appeared in the Manchester Times just before Christmas. Our next visual effort will also be to have yard signs that look like the above graphic placed in yards of those who support this initiative. If you are interested or know of a business that is interested in receiving the yard sign please let the coalition know.
Lastly, if you are interested in helping with this initiative please reply to this e-mail. We would love to have you on our team.

 | A Show of No Regrets |
A big round of applause goes to the band, Masquarade. On January 8th the band, comprised of current and former CCCHS students, put on an outstanding concert at the Manchester Arts Center. The concert was hosted by CCADC and had approximately 125 community members and students attend. Community organizations like Centerstone and Monroe Harding set up informational booths for patrons to peruse and 102.9 "The Buzz" was there with free give aways.
Masquarade has a wonderful message for teens and parents alike. They are students who have made a decision to abstain from alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. They are wild and crazy without outside influences! We thank the band for their message and are grateful for great teens and young adults in our community.
