Academic Performance Index Projection is 975
OPAcrest

Chino, Calif. - August 31, 2012 -
Oxford Preparatory Academy of Chino Valley, a collegiate-inspired kindergarten through eighth grade, tuition-free public charter school, announced today their projected 2012 Academic Performance Index (API). The two-year old charter school shared its projected API score of 975 points with staff, students, and parents on the Chino campus with fanfare and celebration.

About the Academic Performance Index (API)
The API, or Academic Performance Index, is a statistical measurement of student achievement used in California to determine the performance and growth of schools and districts. A school's API can then be compared statewide and to other schools.

Oxford's Track Record of Academic Success

Oxford Preparatory Academy's (OPA) charter petition was approved unanimously by the Chino Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) Board of Education on January 21, 2010. OPA Chino Valley opened in September of 2010 at 5862 C Street in Chino. In OPA's first year of existence, students posted a 958 API, outpacing all other schools in San Bernardino county. On December 29, 2011, the CVUSD school board, again by unanimous vote, granted Oxford Preparatory Academy a five-year charter renewal.

Oxford Earns a 10/10 Similar Schools and Statewide Ranking

In June of 2012, the California Department of Education announced that Oxford Preparatory Academy Chino Valley earned a Statewide Rank of 10 and a Similar Schools Rank of 10. The ratings are from the California Academic Performance Index (API) Base report.  The "Similar Schools" rating shows where a school ranks academically on a scale of 1-10 compared with 100 other schools with similar demographic characteristics.

About Oxford Preparatory Academy Charter Schools

Founded in Chino by respected administrator Sue Roche, Oxford Preparatory Academy is a tuition-free, public charter school open to all students in the state of California, with priority enrollment given to students within CVUSD. Oxford Preparatory Academy opened a second campus in Mission Viejo in September, 2011, after unanimous approval of its charter petition by the Capistrano Unifed School District Board of Trustees. The projected 2012 API for the one-year old Oxford Prep South Orange County campus is 997.

Oxford's college-inspired academic program is based on Dr. Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences, which assumes that all children are gifted and learn in at least eight ways. Gardner's eight intelligences include: linguistic, logical-mathematical, musical, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalist. By utilizing this theory in its instructional approach, Oxford Preparatory Academy teachers and staff are able to increase academic retention and produce optimal educational success for its students.
