Wood Duck Farm

Our Update
...a periodic reflection of what's going on at the farm

June 17th, 2012

Be careful for what you wish for is an old adage that comes to mind as the farm received almost 5" of rain this week; of which 4" came in two short hours on Tuesday. We needed some rain, but wishing it could arrive in more moderation, rather than all at once. Oh yes, I guess I forgot for a moment that we farm in Texas; the land situated between flood and drought. :-)

We've Been Robbed? Yikes! Yep someone broke into our farm house residence on Tuesday night and took lots of tools, some guns, a digital camera, a "piggy bank" and possibly more as we discover "new missing items" each day.  Guess all we can hope for is that they needed it more than we did.  The Sheriff said it looked like someone knew our schedule, an inside job. I'm guessing all of the construction/logging traffic that we have received via clearing the back forty over the past few months has placed us on the "thieves map."  Gosh, we have been there almost 18 years and have had little problems with theft,  Time to begin locking the front gate I guess.

What's Growing: Aiming to harvest our last cauliflower of the season this week along with some sweet corn, slicer tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, green beans, new potatoes and hopefully some arugula; if it is not too waterlogged that is. More Peaches this week too.

Summer CSA Program Begins This Coming Week: Our Spring CSA program just ended and we are heading right into the ten week summer program. For more info and registration visit this link  Summer CSA Program & Registration.  For a short tutorial, consider reviewing the following instructions:

Like to Participate, but will be gone some this summer? Consider splitting a share with a friend/relative. Sorry, we don't have provisions for splitting credit card payments.

Sunday Midnight Is Our Typical Weekly Cut-off.  With this in mind, please consider ordering by midnight tonight, Sunday, to insure orders be delivered this coming week. Reading this email too late? Not to worry, our prices are prorated each week to reflect correct prices. So orders and registrations received later will begin the following week.

On a final note, congratulations to all the Dad's out there. Wishing you all a terrific Father's Day1

Until Next Time,
