This Past Week:
Seems as though farm activities are in a spiral mode as once harvesting, preparing beds and planting seems complete, the process begins again. We began harvesting some of our first spring onions this week. Kinda' small in size; probably a result of having "soggy feet" (aka a wet root zone) from the constant wet conditions over the past two months. Still have broccoli, kale, cauliflower, and beets. Hopefully this week coming up we will have a few carrots as well. Strawberries seem to be doing okay with all the rain, but the bugs like them too, We try to cull the bad ones, but if you see a blemish on some of them, please remember this is part of the price of having a pesticide free berry in your hand, as well as having a rain storm on them every week. Other happenings this past week included trying to get some more work on the new back 40, attending a new Wednesday afternoon (4-7) farmer's mkt there at the Woodlands Mall, picked another 1000 blueberry plants yesterday.

Pulling the first of our Onions for the Spring.

Hauling fresh picked beets from the field was rinsing and packing.

Beds of Beets (far left) and carrots (right.)

Whoops! Working on the "Back 40" was a little too muddy for this little dozer. Up to the cab in mud as the tracks are buried!

Our "Big Iron Insurance Policy?" This excavator saved the little dozer from sinking all the way to China. Hope this baby never gets stuck as it weighs about 90,000 pounds. That would make for one large and expensive piece of "Yard Art!"

Two Weeks From Today Farm Dinner, Sunday April 15th:  We are over 50% booked, so if you are planning on attending, consider registering online now. Our guest Chef will be Bryan Caswell   We've known Bryan for a long time, both as a customer and friend.  Similar in format to prior farm dinners held here over the past few years, the menu format will focus on using local fare. An addition, beer and wine will be available as well as live entertainment by Robert Ellis.  Visit this link for a preview of Robert Ellis Band. The event will begin with a reception, followed by a farm tour and then dinner outside in a family style format. What if it rains? Dinner will   be held inside the ol schoolhouse, a greenhouse or someplace dry. Tickets are $95 . To read more about and purchase tickets online visit Sunday Farm DInner w/ Bryan Caswell & Friends    To get an idea of " our prior dinner events" visit Prior Farm Dinner Photos and Menus

Our Spring CSA Program.  The Spring program will be ten weeks and is going to begin the week of Monday, April 9th, and extend into early June. The expected harvest will be similar to the winter program, but will eventually evolve into more spring items such as potatoes, green beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, summer squash etc. We think we will have strawberries into early May, which about time when the first harvest of blackberries begin, soon followed by blueberries and then peaches.

*Additional Clearlake Area Pick Up Location Added* Long time CSA member and supporter of the farm, Lea Bodie is allowing us to use her residence as an added pick up location in the Clearlake area. Her house, located in Bay Oaks is about midpoint between the Oasis Coffee House and Cullens, so this might be more convenient for some of you. Times will be 4:30-7 and will become active when the Spring program begins. Visit this link to see a map CSA Pick Up Locations

*We appreciate your patience as we transition from our existing online processing system to an updated version.
