Lucile and Joseph Skalet Pavilion and the Lola and Saul Kramer Pavilion Awarded 5 out of 5 Stars
                                                       5 Star Rating
United Hebrew's Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, The Lucile and Joseph Skalet Pavilion and The Lola and Saul Kramer Pavilion, has been awarded five out of five stars for overall quality by the United States centers for medicare and medicaid.  The stars are a rating system that is used to track nursing home quality care throughout the country.

We are proud of our partnership with the nationally renowned Burke Rehabilitation Hospital.  Residents are treated on a dedicated subacute short term rehabilitation floor with private rooms where Burke Rehab therapists are committed to getting our patients home in the shortest amount of time possible at the great level of independence possible.  Dr. Nora O'Brien, director of rehabilitation at UH, and her team of therapists use outcome measures to assist the therapists in defining goals and treatments.

A New Director of the Phoenix Memory Program and Partnering with the Alzheimer's Association for A Family Caregiver Support Group

Picture of Alice FeintuchWe are happy to introduce the new director of the Phoenix Memory Program, Alice Feintuch.  The Phoenix Program is a dedicated floor within Willow Towers for those with Alzheimer's or related dementias.  Alice is a Columbia University educated geriatric social worker with extensive experience in community settings and serving clients with dementia.  She was previously employed by the Alzheimer's Association.

We know how important it is to have a support system and a place to share feelings when dealing with a loved one with memory loss.  Alice Feintuch leads a family support group once a month on Thursday evenings from 6-7:30 pm.  For more information please contact Jean Dunphy, Executive Director of Willow Towers at 914-636-6565 or visit www.willowtowers.com.

Mila Levine, director of recreation at UH leads a song writing class.  They start with a theme and a beat.  Residents brainstorm together and a new piece of music is created.  The creative arts keep minds alert and active for a healthier lifestyle.

Low-Savin/Soundview Apartments Names New Manager

Joanne Russo-Lanza has been named the new manager of the Low-Savin/Soundview Apartments.  Soundview Apartments is a 135 unit residence for independent older adults.  Joanne has held a number of positions at the United Hebrew campus.  Previously she was the service coordinator for Soundview Apartments and prior to that was Director of  Admissions for the United Hebrew nursing home.  For more information about the Low-Savin Residence call 914.632.2804 x1238.

Closing the Digital Divide 

Our award-winning gerontechnology program has started its new semester.  Students from Pace University are teaching computers to our older adults.  We now have Telikin touch screen computers for easier use.
