Building Safety Month In Review

Troop #133, left to right: Michael, Cristobal, Colin, and James.  The boy standing in back is Joseph.
Lisa Conner, Building Official for the Clark County School District and SN-ICC member, sent along the picture at right. One of her inspectors, Robert Beck, put to good use Building Safety Month supplies provided by SN-ICC's Public Outreach Committee.

Robert is the leader of Cub Scout Troop #133, based out of St. Francis de Sales. At the troop's May den meeting, Robert introduced his scouts to building safety month and "CODiE & CODEtte Activity Books." About this experience Robert said, "I used the workbooks provided and the kids had fun going through them and, hopefully, learned a little something in the process."

The Public Outreach Committee provided all of Southern Nevada's jurisdictions, including the School District, with Building Safety Month displays. The Committee also successfully reached an agreement with The Home Depot in which SN-ICC was allowed to promote Building Safety Month with displays at 12 area stores as well.
Let's Do It Again!  EduCode Welcoming Event Set!
 KathyKaiserKathyKaiser

The National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) had such a good time at the 2010 EduCode "Welcoming Event" that they said, "let's do it again!"

Monday, January 31, 2011, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., the NFRC will host and produce the official EduCode Welcoming Event at the Orleans Hotel and Casino. The event is open to all code officials, industry friends and guests. You do not have to be an EduCode student or volunteer to attend.

NFRC said last year was just a warm up for this year's event. NRFC has got their feet wet and has some ideas to make this year even better. Plan to attend Monday night and see what they come up with this year!

The NFRC is a non-profit organization that administers a voluntary, uniform rating, labeling, and certification system for the energy performance of windows, doors, curtain walls, skylights, and other fenestration products. To learn more about this organization, please go to www.nfrc.org.

Surprising as it may seem, we have received requests for our 2011 EduCode Expo exhibit space package - already!  So far, we have had to ask these potential exhibitors to be patient.  But that has now changed as of this week.  The EduCode Committee has finished the 2011 Expo application and it is has been posted on EduCode's website

If you know of someone who is interested in exhibiting, please send this link to them so they may download the application:  http://educode.snicc.org/pdfs/EXPO%20Registration%20Form%202011.pdf.
