Road Construction Projects on hold

With the ongoing construction laborer and equipment operator's strike, all work on MCDOT road construction projects has been suspended until further notice. This includes County resurfacing work, the Alden Road Bridge project, Walkup Road project, and Virginia Road reconstruction project. Even without workers in construction zones working, motorists should still use caution when traveling through work zones and obey posted work zone speed limits where present. As more information becomes available, the MCDOT will evaluate the impact of this work stopage to the construction schedules (if any) for each project and update the information on its website at www.McHenryCountyDOT.org.

McHenry County Victory Garden

During World War I every resource in the nation went to the war movement. Trains and trucks that were normally used in food transportation was needed for war production and transportation. In an effort to raise awareness of the Country's dedication to past war efforts and the lack of fresh foods at our local community food pantries, the McHenry County Historic Preservation Commission has established a series of  local gardens or "Victory Gardens" across the County. One of the gardens, the McHenry County Government Victory Garden is managed by volunteers, some of which are County employees. The food that is harvested from the McHenry County Government Victory Garden is donated to the Woodstock Food Pantry. For more information about Victory Gardens,  please visit the McHenry County Historical Preservation Commission web page.
