 All Together Now...
Plaque of Josiah Hill IIIA huge thanks to everyone who attended our naming ceremony for the Josiah Hill III Building and our Volunteer Appreciation Event on February 20th, Josiah Hill III's birthday. We were honored by the presence of many of Josiah's family members, who drove down from Seattle to participate in the celebration, including his sister, Becky, and his grandson, Josiah Hill IV. To view a slide show of the volunteers we recognized, click here! And please, feel free to stop by anytime to check out the new Josiah Hill III plaque and commemorative door sign at our office!
Staff Spotlight: Dean Richardson
Dean RichardsonAs Josiah III's dear friend and brother-in-law, Dean Richardson was one of the founding board members of Josiah Hill III Clinic. Currently, he teaches Torts, American Indian Law, Products Liability and Sports Law at the Willamette University College of Law. He is a dedicated proponent of racial equity, and is deeply involved in the University's tutorial and minority affairs programs. Dean received the United Methodist Award for Exemplary Teaching and Service in 2008, recognizing him for his impact both in academia and within the community. "What could be a more valuable use of one's time and energy than contributing to the health of a child?" Dean asks. Thank you, Dean, for encapsulating the spirit of the Clinic's mission so eloquently. Your contributions to our work are invaluable.
Big Plans for a Little Clinic
Baby Time! Since we've started accepting individual blood lead screening appointments in-office, we've had a parade of little babies toddling through our office.  Good thing we have a large stock of Snoopy Band Aids saved up! We've also held three Lead Poison Prevention workshops for Albina Head Start, screenings at Lynch View Health Fair and the Jefferson High School Fix-It Fair, and a Green Cleaning Workshop at the lovely little Woodstock Community Center in SE Portland. Next month, we'll be holding a workshop and screening at the Mother and Child Education Center! For more info, see our calendar, and for fun pics and things, feel free to visit our bright and shiny blog.
Last in our news brief from this action-packed month, we would like to share three glorious successes with you all, our wonderful JHC community:

1. The 3rd Annual NW Environmental Health Conference, which we co-hosted on February 11th, had a record amount of attendants this year.

2.
We are now a part of Goodsearch.com, a search site in which you can donate to us just by using a Goodsearch's specific search engine.

3.
The Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods has awarded us a $2000 grant to promote healthier homes for children in substandard housing!

Visit our news page for details on all of the above. Thanks everyone for your support, and for making these exciting successes possible. Hooray for February!
March- bring it on.

Sincerely,
The Staff
