January, also known as Radon Awareness Month, was a big success: Board Member Don Francis had interviews on both Community Hotline and KBOO Radio, and we've been receiving requests for radon test kits all month long. JHC staff attended an illuminating workshop on Somali culture lead by IRCO's Africa House, and Program Manager Amanda Lawrence spent four days at the Center for Diversity and Environment's 2042 Retreat, where she explored the intricacies of future race relations in America.  Last week, Communications Specialist Nicole Staudinger hosted a super fun and interactive Spanish Green Cleaning Workshop at the Cesar Chavez School in North Portland. Besides the birthday celebration on February 20th, it is a very special day for all of us at the Clinic. At 3pm on Sunday afternoon, the JHC office will be dedicated as the Josiah Hill III building, with a plaque featuring a bust of Josiah. Afterward, volunteers, board members, and staff will convene at the Widmer Gasthaus Pub for snacks, awards, and general appreciation of all the wonderful people who donate their time to make the Clinic what it is. Also this month, we'll be hosting three workshops with Albina Early Head Start, blood lead screenings at the Woodstock Community Center and the Parkrose High Fixit Fair, and co-hosting the 3rd Annual NW Environmental Health Conference at PSU!
