| Dear Friend of Josiah Hill Clinic, | | Happy fall, everyone! Don't be blue that the summer is over- although the sun may not be as present in the sky, the Josiah Hill III Clinic is shining bright as ever, spreading health, happiness, and environmental hazard awareness throughout Portland! Take that, rain. |
| Amazing Interns |
First of all, we would like to thank our wonderful interns: Berenia, Amina, Susanna, Tania and Rifat. After numerous outreach events, blood screening clinics, and healthy home visits, they have clocked invaluable hours for us, as well as helping to create colorful, easy-to-read handouts about asthma, lead poisoning, green cleaning, integrated pest management, and lead safety during home renovation, all available to download from our website. Thank you again, ladies, and good luck in your future adventures! |
Events, Festivities, and JHC in the News
| Per usual, we at JHC have been out and about in the community, spreading the news about environmental hazards and analyzing blood in the name of lead poison prevention. The first week in August we provided lead screenings at the National Night Out in Argay Park and the Sellwood Community Health Fair. Our Appreciation BBQ on the 11th went swimmingly, as did our Green Cleaning Workshop at the King Elementary School, where participants seemed excited to put our aforementioned, brand new Green Cleaning Handouts to use. The Clinic has also been popping up in the news recently- Executive Director Charles McGee, II has a direct quote in OPAL's recent Press Release for their Rally for the Bus, and Metro Parent has announced JHC as its October Edition's Nonprofit Angel of the Month! More details to come...

| JHC Spotlight: Head of the Board, Bill Lambert |
In 2006, Bill Lambert attended a visioning meeting with Bruce Watts, JHC's treasurer, and other Board members, who were inspired by his expertise concerning children's health, housing, and indoor air quality. Consequently, Bill was asked to join our Board and take the lead. Bill is happy to contribute to the JHC, saying he was "...motivated by Josiah's story and the passion of Bruce and the other volunteer Board members to keep Josiah's dream alive." Bill is also currently Director of the Epidemiology and Biostatistics track of the Oregon MPH program, and he is the Associate Director of the Prevention Research Center at OHSU. He keeps very busy with a wide selection of projects, all of which "...are based in communities and hopefully make a difference to people's lives." Rest assured, Bill: you are definitely making a difference in the multitude of neighborhoods that the Clinic serves! To find out more about Bill's great work, read on...
