| Invitation to Discuss Worship |
The Worship ministry team continually discerns what Lutheran worship is and could be at St. John's. As part of our ongoing discussion this fall, we will be reading together Mark Pierson's book The Art of Curating Worship, and would like to invite the congregation to join us! Everyone is welcome. We will read the book in installments and discuss the assigned section at the beginning of each Worship ministry team monthly meeting, the first Tuesday of the month at 5:30 at St. John's. Our first assignment, pp. ix to 27, will be discussed at the Oct. 4 meeting. If you care to join us, obtain a copy of the book before that date and come prepared to share your thoughts. Books are available for $10 through Larry Christensen; contact LarryC@stjohnsdsm.org or call 243-7691.

| Evening with the Bishop |
Join Bishop Michael Burk for an evening of conversation and fellowship on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 6:30 pm here at St. John's. This will be a time of sharing thoughts that go to the heart of what it means to be the people of God in mission together through the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Southeastern Iowa Synod. The Evening with the Bishop will be held across the synod in three congregations and St. John's is fortunate to be one of the selected. All are welcome.
