| WELCA Update |
► The Women of the ELCA will be providing a lunch for $6.00 following the Lenten Noon Worship Services beginning March 9th. Lunch will be served in Neumann and will include a choice of sloppy joe or egg salad sandwich, soup, salad, a dessert and your drink. Please come join the fellowship.
► Women of the ELCA invite you to participate with us in our mission for March, the Connection Café. We are collecting paper goods; paper cups, lunch bags, napkins. The Café feeds about 150 people a day so lots of paper goods are needed. Marked boxes are down by the office and in the hallway across from the chapel. |

Did you know that we truly are "wired" for God? That the Divine DNA is in the cells and substance of every human person? Psalm 139 beautifully reveals that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made," a truth of whose amazing reality we are only beginning to understand.
This presentation will give an overview of the interweaving of science and spirituality to enhance our understanding of the interconnectedness of the human body, of human beings, of the world community with the universe we live in. "We're in completely new territory in our brains . . . the brain is literally being rewired, reconnecting to a new concept which ultimately is changing us from the inside out." (Dr. Joseph Dispenza, scientist). Kathy Reardon is a spiritual director, a holistic nurse, a teacher, a retreat leader, and a co-developer and faculty member of PrairieFire, a two year spiritual deepening experience offered through the Des Moines Pastoral Counseling Center. Cost: $20. If you have questions, please contact Darla at 243-7691 or darlastiles@stjohnsdsm.org. Sign-up in the lounge later this month. |

New Mom Needs Assistance | |

We have a request from a member of our congregation who knows of a mom who is in need of some help with her twins. One of the babies is still in the NICU but will be discharged in the coming weeks. She is looking for someone to hold the babies, wash bottles, do laundry, etc. She is an older, first-time mom who is feeling very overwhelmed with the thought of having two babies at home and is need of an extra set of hands to help. Perhaps you may be interested or know someone who could assist this new mom. Non-smokers only. Thank you for considering this. For more information or to volunteer, contact susan@holdinghands.com. |

Jean McKinney to be Honored | Everyone is invited to a special reception in Weertz on Sunday, April 3, at 10:00 a.m., honoring longtime parish nurse, the Rev. Jean McKinney. Jean retired from St. John's at the end of January after 25 years of devoted service. If you are unable to attend, please feel free to send your best wishes to Jean in care of St. John's Lutheran Church, 600 Sixth Ave., Des Moines, IA 50309. We will put any messages for Jean in a basket to give her at the reception. |
| St. John's Spring Cleaning | April 9 is the date set aside for our annual spring cleaning. Beginning at 9:00 a.m., we need help in preparing the Sanctuary for our Easter celebration. The more who can help, the faster it goes; last year it took about two hours. All supplies will be provided. To offer your assistance, please call Katie at 243-7691.
