St. John's Cathedral Choir and Cantorei will be joining the Doane singers for several numbers.

WELCA Update
WELCAWith the  hope that the congregation will want to participate, the WELCA invites you to learn about the Harbor of Hope. The Harbor of Hope accommodates 24 men and serves as an addiction recovery center. As a placement option for the Drug Court participants, it provides an environment for positive growth, mutual respect, hope and solutions that become a blueprint for a successful drug-free life. The executive director is Andy Anderson known to many of us as a long time St. John's member and our evening security person for a number of years. Andy requires the residents to be accountable to a weekly support group, respect a curfew, be employed or seeking work. Residents pay a modest rental fee, are expected to participate in financial training and other expectations for building a more productive and responsible lifestyle. The values the Harbor and Andy proclaim are relationships, responsibility and renewal (harborofhopeiowa.com). For the month of February, WELCA boxes marked Harbor of Hope will be in the reception area and the hallway across from the Chapel. Especially useful are cleaning products: paper towels, toilet paper, laundry soap, toilet bowl cleaner and shower cleaner are items that would be appreciated.
Food Pantry Soup Supper
Soup ImageThe 5th Annual Food Pantry Soup Supper is Sunday, February 20th at West Des Moines Christian Church, 4501 Mills Civic Parkway. The supper is from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. and will feature chili, chicken noodle and vegan garden vegetable soups. Cost is $10.00 per person and you will receive a free ceramic bowl, created by local artists, while supplies last. For tickets or information, see Nancy Gooding or Deb Anderson or call 277-6969 for tickets. www.dmreligious.org.
Interfaith Hospitality Network

Interfaith Hospitality Network Logo►  On March 8th and 10th, St. John's will assist WDM Christian Church in hosting 3 homeless families in transition. Please consider volunteering for a shift. We need food preparers & servers, evening and overnight hosts. This is a great opportunity for youth, families or small groups to serve together.

On March 8 and 10, we need two people per shift: 5:30 - 7:00 pm serve supper and clean-up; 6:00 - 8:00 pm evening hosts; 8:00 pm - 6:00 am overnight hosts (at least one male needed).

Food needs to be delivered by 5:30 pm: enough for 25 people - main dish; salad; vegetable/starch; dessert. Plus 2 loaves of bread and 2 gallons of milk. Thank you!

Peace,
