Children's Ministries
► KDZ@SJLC for age 3-Kindergarten meets every Wednesday at 6:30 in room 5. Songs, movement, stories, and field trips around the church are experienced to help children learn about the church year, Bible stories, and grow in their own faith.
► TODAY IS RALLY SUNDAY!!! Come to the Fireside Lounge at 10:00 to take part in the Rally Sunday Activities!!!!!!
► Next Sunday, September 19 - Sunday School begins! All kids meet in the chapel at 9:55. Bibles will be given to three year olds, third and seventh graders at the 8:45 worship service and Sunday School teachers and helpers will be installed!
► Sunday School registrations are available on the table outside the chapel and on our website.
► 5th and 6th grade Sunday School teachers are needed. Contact Sheryl Reed at church if interested.

Faithful Friends
Training Session
St. John's has a number of homebound parishioners who need a friend to visit, offer socialization, prayer, emotional support, communion and scripture. A visitation program called Faithful Friends is being formed to assist the Pastors and parish nurse in reaching out to parishioners in need. A two hour training program to become a Faithful Friend volunteer is being held on Thursday, September 23, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at church. A light meal will be served. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Faithful Friend volunteer. To register for the class, call the receptionist at 243-7691 by no later than September 21. For questions contact Pastor Speirs or Karen Zaabel at 225-8476.

WELCA Update
► WELCA will be collecting school supplies during the month of September. (This time of year school supplies tend to be on sale.) Items will be donated to the Children and Family Urban Ministry for distribution to the children that participate in their breakfast and after school programs. Boxes labeled SCHOOL SUPPLIES will be in the narthex and the office reception area.
