"Faithful Friends"...

... for elderly members who can no longer join us for worship and other activities. Would you be willing to visit with one or two homebound members of St. John's - by phone and in person - on a monthly basis? If so, please consider our "Faithful Friends" ministry, forming this fall. Training in visitation ministry - including sharing Holy Communion with those who are homebound - will be provided for all who are willing to be a "Faithful Friend." Please contact Pastor Bob Speirs or Karen Zaabel (225-8473) for more information and/or to sign up for a training session and receive a visitation assignment. Thank you!

Rushing Water 2
If you or someone you know needs help following the recent flooding in our area:

►  Register with FEMA online at www.disasterassistance.gov or call 1-800-621-FEMA. If you are not sure you qualify, or you need help with the forms you can visit the disaster relief center located at 1740 Garfield in Des Moines. Any additional aid, for instance, the Iowans Helping Iowans program announced by the governor, will be dependent on a FEMA application. Disaster relief centers are also being set up in other effected communities.
►  For help with clean-up, the Southern Baptist Conference is in the area and will help people on a priority basis (no FEMA registration required.) They are professionally trained, work at no charge and can be reached through their call center at 1-800-460-6881. Volunteers may be coordinated through this group as well.

Jacque's interest in photography began early in her life and gained momentum as her children's lives developed. As a result of that interest, she has taken photography classes in college and post-college. She enjoys taking
photos of people, scenery and architecture. Her children tease her about having "her camera attached to her hip."
