Government Study Finds No Health Effects from BPA
A study funded by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and published in Toxicological Sciences, confirms the fact that BPA is efficiently metabolized by the human body and rapidly eliminated, making it unlikely to cause health effects.
The study was undertaken by scientists from the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) - which double-checked and verified the initial findings. The scientists also questioned findings from other studies where high levels of the chemical had been detected in urine or blood.
MWFPA has opposed efforts to ban BPA noting that, despite more than 40 years of study, no governmental science-based advisory board in the world has concluded that BPA is harmful.

Judiciary Chair Calls for Requiring E-Verify
House Judiciary chairman Lamar Smith (R-TX) has called for President Obama to include a requirement that all employers use the E-Verify system to check the eligibility of new hires as part of his recently unveiled jobs plan. E-Verify runs an individual's social security number through a government database to ensure they are legally allowed to work in the U.S.
While MWFPA has not opposed the E-Verify system, it advocates that any worker verification system not unduly burden employers, be properly funded, and have a high data integrity confidence factor.
