Dear DHP Installers,

5,000+ Installations
The Project reached 5,000 approved installations in June.  Thanks to all participating contractors for your hard work and continued support!
Customer Service
Before Installation: The Project strongly encourages contractors to orient their customers on the approval process, and the incentives and tax rebates they can expect. Please confirm utility eligibility requirements and incentive amounts using the Participating Utility List on the Project website, www.nwductless.com. We do our best to maintain a current list of tax-qualifying products; however, changes to this list may occur, so contractors are strongly encouraged to double check equipment eligibility prior to installation.
After installation: Thoroughly educating your customers on the operation and upkeep of their DHPs is a great way to increase customer satisfaction and reduce call backs. The Project encourages you to perform a customer walk-through of unit operation at the time of installation and to leave behind a copy of the Project Homeowner Guide.
Torque Wrenches: Update
In accordance with manufacturer specifications, a torque wrench should be used to connect refrigerant lines on all ductless heat pump installations. The Project has collected data from participating manufacturers and distributor partners regarding torque wrench recommendations.  Daikin is the only manufacturer who has Daikin-specific torque wrenches; all other manufactures recommend using a universal torque wrench for DHP installations.  Contact your DHP distributor to purchase a torque wrench that is compatible with the equipment that you install.
Best Practices Installation Guide
Copies of the Best Practices Installation Guide have been sent to all Project oriented contractors.  If you have not received yours, please contact Leigh Baumann at 503.808.9003 x.119 or lbaumann@fluidms.com.
Been to a Technical Training?
The Project is coordinating with manufacturers and distributors to improve installation and technical trainings for contractors.  To share your feedback on trainings you've attended or suggestions for upcoming trainings please click here to complete a brief online survey.

Installation at Luther Senior Center

The Project would like to commend Total Energy Management for their work installing 50 Mitsubishi ductless heat pumps at the Luther Senior Center in Richland, WA.  This is an example of an ideal multi-unit application of DHPs.

The Cost of Heat Worksheet has been updated and posted to the Project website, www.nwductless.com.  This customizable worksheet is a great sales tool that can help you communicate the energy savings and efficiency of ductless heat pumps compared to other heating systems.
