Richmond Drainage Improvements: Eastside North of Richmond to be Paved Next Week |
Richmond Construction
Work on Richmond over the coming week will be more of the same. Crews plan to remain busy with junction box work at the Kirby/Richmond intersection and will look to begin work on the Wakeforest junction box this week as well.
Eastside will undergo much more noticeable progress this week beginning with the Richmond Eastside intersection. While there is still some water line work to complete here in the coming weeks, crews are now at a point where the intersection can be reopened to through traffic and turning movements later this morning.
Moving north on Eastside, workers plan to pour concrete over the newly installed lateral drainage line on Monday between Richmond and Elbert. This stretch should take approximately three days to dry before being opened up to full vehicular access.
South of Richmond on Eastside, crews will look to complete storm drainage installation from the cul-de-sac at US 59 north this week in hopes of being able to begin prepping for pavement the following week. Norfolk water line work is ongoing and should be at a point where pavement can be placed in the next two to three weeks.
The Richmond Drainage Improvement Project between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway is one of two remaining systems still needing upgrades that feeds into the recently updated Kirby storm system and moves water south to Braes Bayou. The project will entail the installation of a new 6-foot storm drain to provide additional underground capacity and upgraded lateral systems and inlets on Eastside and Audley all aimed at addressing the serious flooding issues this stretch of Richmond is known to experience.
