Richmond Drainage Improvements: Buffalo Speedway Reaches Substantial Completion |
Richmond Construction
Work continued this week on the Richmond Avenue Drainage Improvements Project between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway.
Crews continued progressing just west of Kirby with storm sewer installation. This first phase will entail the installation of a large junction box that will tie the coming Richmond improvements into the Kirby drainage system. It is expected that this phase will be completed around the first part of July when existing traffic control will move west splitting traffic lanes around the construction zone at the next available median opening.
Excavation work on Eastside Street south of Richmond Avenue is complete and storm sewer installation is underway. Over the next several weeks the new storm line will be completed and the roadway restored. This lateral line will extend north of Richmond as well taking the drainage improvements approximately to Alabama.
Lateral line work will also take place on Audley north of Richmond as this project progresses. Notifications will be issued as further lateral work is scheduled. During all lateral work on Eastside and Audley, there will be just enough room for two-way traffic to pass. Please be sure to stay to the right as you pass the construction area to allow motorists traveling opposite you to proceed. Also be aware that no on-street parking will be permitted through the construction zone. Flagmen will assist in moving motorists safely through the construction area in these confined spaces.
Please be on the lookout for further updates as work progresses.
Buffalo Speedway Construction
Buffalo Speedway construction has now reached substantial completion with all sidewalks, lanes and driveways unobstructed.
Several small punch-list items remain such as the installation of pedestrian benches and trash receptacles, pedestrian lighting installation and some sandblasting concrete treatments.
Thank you to all of the motorists, patrons and business owners for your patience during this construction.
