Richmond Drainage Work Begins |
Richmond Construction
Work continued this week on the Richmond Avenue Drainage Improvements Project between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway.
Traffic control was put in place on Richmond early last week west of Kirby approximately to Lake St. The contractor has since excavated the pavement needed to begin storm sewer work along that stretch. This configuration will remain unchanged for the next several weeks.
Two lanes immediately north of the center median will be used to complete the installation leaving two lanes open in either direction. Eastbound motorists should expect to travel along the southern two lanes while westbound motorists will be split around the construction. One westbound lane will travel immediately south of the center median and one will travel along the northern curbline of the street. Those heading westbound with destinations on their right are advised to move to the right lane prior to crossing the Kirby/Richmond intersection. Similarly, those westbound motorists with destinations on the left should stay left as they approach Kirby.
Crew availability prevented intended work last week on the Eastside lateral south of Richmond and is likely to be scheduled early next week. Crews will begin digging bore pits on Norfolk south of Richmond. Lateral work on Eastside itself has not yet been scheduled, but motorists should expect one lane of traffic in either direction to be preserved on both Norfolk and Eastside during construction, however, on street parking will not be available on Eastside or Norfolk while work is underway.
Please be on the lookout for further updates as work progresses.
Buffalo Speedway Construction
Having completed the pavement and underground infrastructure work on Buffalo Speedway between Bissonnet and US 59, crews are now working to complete landscaping and streetscape amenity installation behind the curbs.
This past week, tree grate installation continued alongside ongoing ground-cover plantings and irrigation work. Pedestrian lighting infrastructure installation also continued along both sides of the street.
Work began on the east side of the roadway last week as well. Trees were installed between 59 and Westpark early in the week and tree installations will continue south of Westpark today.
