Buffalo Speedway Improvements Streetscape Installation Continues |
Buffalo Speedway Construction
Pavement work on Buffalo Speedway is now complete and traffic is moving at its pre-construction capacity. Crews opened lanes on March 22nd and congestion along the roadway has improved significantly.
Sidewalk work on the west side of the roadway is substantially complete with the exception of isolated retaining wall work toward the southern end of the project area. Soil has been mixed and placed in the planting beds, tree areas and medians. Crews will begin shortly drilling foundations for pedestrian and street light standards and will continue to work on streetscape items behind the curb.
Richmond Avenue Construction
A final design for the Richmond Avenue Drainage Improvements Project between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway has been approved by the City and the contractor is preparing to begin work. Over the next week project contractor, Raytec Construction Resources will mobilize crews and equipment with the goal of beginning work the following week.
While this alteration of the traffic plan will increase vehicular capacity during construction and improve access to the north side of Richmond, it will restrict the space in which the contractor has to install the new storm facilities and make applicable connections. This will mean that the original contract period of 270 calendar days will likely increase by 30 days or more.
