Buffalo Speedway Construction Night Work This Week |
 | Bissonnet Intersection Paving |
Buffalo Speedway Construction
Buffalo Speedway construction is moving forward and on schedule for substantial completion in March.
Since the project began in February 2011, contractors have completed overhead utility burial, new water and storm sewer installation and have paved all main lanes on the eastern half of the roadway.
Bissonnet intersection work on the eastern half of the street continued this week and is expected to be completed by the end of the weekend. At which point, intersection paving activity will move to the Westpark intersection.
Motorists should expect a short period of one-lane through traffic heading east and west on Bissonnet for a short distance crossing the Buffalo Speedway intersection through Sunday. The intersection will be completely opened up by Monday.
Crews will be implementing similar traffic control at Westpark today in preparation for pavement placement. Eastbound and westbound traffic will be maintained at the Westpark intersection during reconstruction, however, left turning movements and through traffic will operate out of the same lane. Westpark intersection work is anticipated to take approximately two weeks to complete.
Crews also completed paving the HEB driveways this week, made significant progress on water line connection work and began sidewalk installation moving north from Bissonnet toward Westpark. Sidewalk installation will continue over the coming week.
Several traffic shifts may occur in the coming month as intersection work progresses. Look for email updates as plans are finalized.
