Upper Kirby Construction Update

Buffalo Speedway
Pavement Installation Underway 
Crews Pour New Roadway on Buffalo Speedway
Buffalo Speedway Construction Pavement crews have continued to make significant progress over the past week working on the east side of Buffalo Speedway moving from Bissonnet north.

Despite the first freezing conditions of the year, contractors will have successfully paved the main lanes on Buffalo Speedway between Bissonnet and US 59 by the end of the week. Poured just yesterday morning, the northbound lanes between Westpark and US 59 will again open up to three lanes approaching the freeway for the weekend. Over the coming week, pavement crews will continue driveway work as well as curb-and-gutter installation on the east side of the roadway with the goal of being able to switch traffic onto the new northbound lanes just after the first of the year.

Look for further updates as any traffic switches will be announced as they are scheduled.

US 59 Lane Closures This Weekend
TxDOT Work to Impact Southbound Lanes

 TxDOT work will impact Upper Kirby freeway access this weekend. Take note of TxDOT's advisory below: 

 

Spring Equipment, which is under contract with TxDOT, has scheduled the following major lane closures for the weekend of 12.09.11 thru 12.12.11. The closures will facilitate the replacement of the sealed expansion joints within the inside shoulder and the two and one half inside lanes for the Southbound US 59 S. Overpass at Kirby.  

 

Please note that only two US 59 southbound main lanes at Kirby will remain. The auxiliary lane between the southbound Shepherd/ Greenbriar Entrance Ramp and the Buffalo Speedway exit ramp will also remain open.

 

US 59 S. Southbound main lanes between Montrose and Kirby:  

Three left (inside) main lanes and the inside shoulder will be closed between 9:00 PM on Friday, December 9 and 5:00 AM on Monday, December 12. (Only two main lanes and the auxilary lane between the southbound Shepherd Greenbriar Entrance Ramp and the Buffalo Speedway exit ramp will remain open.)

 

US 59 S. Northbound Frtg Rd U-Turn to US 59S Southbound Frtg Rd:  

Total Closure between 9:00 PM on Friday, December 9 and 5:00 AM on Monday, December 12.

Detour: U-Turn via the signalized intersection.  

 

US 59 S. Southbound Frtg Rd U-Turn to US 59S Northbound Frtg Rd:  

Total Closure between 9:00 PM on Friday, December 9 and 5:00 AM on Monday, December 12.

Detour: U-Turn via the signalized intersection.
