Upper Kirby Construction

Kirby Drive Richmond to 59
Richmond/Kirby Intersection Work to Continue This Weekend
59 paving Kirby Drive construction between Richmond and US 59 sets to hit several significant milestones this week. Buffalo Speedway construction between US 59 and Bissonnet will look to complete water line improvements and move efforts full force into storm drainage and pavement activities.

Kirby Drive Construction
Crews successfully completed the eastern half of the Richmond/Kirby intersection last weekend and will aim to finish the remainder of the intersection over the coming weekend. Originally planned to take place over six weekends, the Richmond/Kirby intersection was re-sequenced to minimize impacts and accelerate overall construction completion. As was the case last weekend, motorists on both Richmond and Kirby should expect to be squeezed down to one lane through the interchange while this work is being completed.

Upon completion of the intersection Sunday evening, crews will shift efforts to the center of the roadway where median construction will commence. As work progresses down the center lanes, motorists should expect two lanes in either direction to continue to be maintained on either side of the new median.

Additionally, streetscape amenities and brick work is substantially complete on the west side of Kirby Drive and those efforts have moved to the east side of the street. Work will continue this week on hardscape installation behind the curb. Landscaping will follow shortly behind.

Look for weekly updates as this work progresses.

Buffalo Speedway Construction
Crews are now nearing completion of the water line improvements on Buffalo Speedway and will look to shift efforts to storm sewer construction and roadway paving in the coming weeks. Until pavement is complete on the east side of the roadway, motorists should expect the traffic control to remain unchanged. At this point, it appears this configuration will continue into November.

Look for weekly updates as this project progresses.
