Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Planning Assistance
 
School Crossing 
The SRTS Planning Assistance program encourages children ages K-8 to walk and bike to school by creating safer walking and biking routes.  It also increases multi-modal transportation alternatives which enhance communities and the environment.
 
Communities that are interested in creating a comprehensive bike or walk to school strategy for their schools should apply for the Planning Assistance Award.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is accepting applications for a variety of project funding programs
Richmond RoadThe STP-R allocates federal funds to complete a variety of improvements to rural highways - primarily county highways.  The objective of the STP-R is to improve federal-aid-eligible highways outside of urban areas. Communities are eligible for funding on roads functionally classified as major collector or higher.
 
Application Deadline:  July 30, 2010
Wells StreetThe STP-U allocates federal funds to complete a variety of improvements to federal-aid-eligible roads and streets in urban areas.  The objective of STP-U is to improve federal-aid-eligible highways within urban areas. Communities are eligible for funding on roads functionally classified as major collector or higher. 
 
Application Deadline:  July 30, 2010
Fox Isle Drive Bridge The Local Bridge Improvement Assistance Program helps rehabilitate and replace seriously deficient local bridges on Wisconsin's local highway systems.  Counties, cities, villages, and towns are eligible, on a cost-shared basis, for rehabilitation funding on bridges with sufficiency ratings of 80 or less and replacement funding on bridges with sufficiency ratings less than 50.
