Greetings!
Welcome to the July newsletter. The Sophie's Team

Frosty Tropical Batidos | The Sophie's News For July These hot days of summer
with around 20% or more of our guests on vacation each week means there are a
few more tables available and shorter take - out lines at lunch. Our already fast delivery service is even
faster. Now is the time to visit us for
even quicker service than usual. And
don't forget to try one of our nice Frosty
Batidos in any or our exciting tropical flavors - a real summertime treat! Speaking
of summertime treats, we recently took our staff from Chambers St. and 23rd
St. for a Sunday outing at Six Flags in NJ. Since many of them have married or are dating employees from other
Sophie's we had representation from Lexington Ave. and Fulton St. too.

Next
month we'll have another outing for teams from other Sophie's. The
weather was perfect and everyone had a good time. It looks like the favorite activity was a
toss-up between lunch and the thrill rides. Take a close
look at the pictures and you might find your favorite server or delivery person
relaxing - a rare sighting for these diligent workers who never seem to stop
while in the restaurants. A great
time was had by all and they were pretty sleepy by the time the bus dropped
them off at Sophie's.

The Big Promotion
In Late Summer/Early Fall
Online
ordering systems have driven us crazy for months but at last we are down to
only one restaurant with problems left to solve.
We're hoping that they are all at least in test by next week. In addition to the big promotion and contest
that we are planning for the fall, we will probably do a little something
special for our eClub members before the summer is over. Keep an eye out for an email from us and
watch for the flyers on the street too.
The most likely start date will be in
September. We will be asking for your
constructive criticism on our new online ordering system and web page. Prizes for the best answers will include a
Punta Cana vacation package; an iPad; a year's worth of free entrees; a year's
worth of free sandwiches; and lots of Sophie's gift cards for entrants chosen
at random. Watch for the posters and
flyers. This will be the must - enter event of the fall.

Sophie's Recipe of
the Month
Our plan is to provide a new,
authentic Cuban recipe every month with this newsletter. We hope
you enjoyed the recipe from last month.
Unfortunately, Eduardo is still preoccupied with concerns for his mother
in Cuba and didn't prepare a recipe for you. Next month we'll try to give you two. In the meanwhile, it's a hot July so eat out if you can.
¡Buen provecho! The Sophie's Team

New Sophie's Cuban Cuisine Restaurant
It looks like Midtown West will be the next area. More news next month.
More Important is the newest member of the founding Luna Family. Sofia's
little Halloween baby isn't so little any more. He's being seen more and more often visiting mom, his grandmother, and
his aunts in the Sophie's restaurants. Rumor has it that he has tried most of the food and thinks it is the
tastiest lunch in the city. We agree. Johan Mendoza-Luna |
Sofia
seems to have started a trend as Erica Garcia from 23rd St. welcomed
a baby girl to her family in June while Carmen de Leon from Chambers St. and
Nayeli Martinez from the Lexington Ave. store are expecting in September.
