High Tunnel Production and Low Cost Tunnel Construction
 If you missed the High Tunnel Production webinar on March 2, you can find it here.   The webinar, presented by Tim Coolong of the University of Kentucky, covered common issues associated with tunnel production and provided a short overview of how to construct a low cost pvc tunnel.

Petunia Production Problems
 Petunias are among the most common spring crops in the garden center, but some persistent challenges can lower quality and cause serious headaches for growers, according to Erik Runkle, Associate professor and floriculture extension specialist at Michigan State University.  Access his article here in Greenhouse Product News here.

Chicago Botanic Garden Plant Evaluations
Speedwells (Veronica spp).
 
The latest Plant Evaluation Notes from the Chicago Botanic Garden conducted by Richard Hawke, Plant Evaluation Manager, are on Speedwells (Veronica and Veronicastrum).
 
You will find those notes (Issue #33) as well as all others that have been conducted and published on the Chicago Botanic Garden website.
Using Biologicals in the Greenhouse
Hands on biological control workshops for the New York greenhouse industry have recently been conducted by the New York State IPM Program. The workshops have been designed to introduce growers to a few of the more useful natural enemies - learning their names, showing them what they look like and providing application information.

ANLA Knowledge Center
If you haven't accessed the ANLA (American Nursery and Landscape Association) Knowledge Center yet, check it out.
 
They have information that covers topics relevant to all areas of the green industry including sales, design, labor, marketing, merchandising etc. etc.  Material comes in print, audio and video. 
 
ANLA members can have full access, but there is partial access to the materials if you are not an ANLA member.

2010 Cut Flower Growers School
The Wisconsin Cut Flower Growers School is a two-day workshop designed to help new and beginning growers learn the ins and outs of producing and marketing cut flowers. For more information and a registration form, download the flier.  The dates are March 13-14, 2010 at the UW Madison Campus.
