Media praise for WineTime and TravelTime Bars

TravelTime Bars

Newspapers and magazines from coast to coast have been singing the praises of WineTime Bars. Valentine's Day, of course, provided an ideal opportunity to suggest that readers give a gift that's good for the heart.

San Francisco ChronicleIn a story headlined "Valentine treats: a sure fire way to make any heart throb," The San Francisco Chronicle wrote: "For the health-conscious, consider a WineTime bar. Packed with the antioxidant resveratrol (found naturally in red grape skins) this just might protect against any heartache to come."

On the east coast, The Summit Daily News of New Jersey, said, "It may just be the perfect Valentine's Day gift: It's cheap, it's chocolate, and it boasts anti-aging and healthy heart benefits." Describing the bars as "luxuriously delicious" and "also good for you," the writer added, "While some 'health' bars taste a little 'off,' especially when they try to infuse fruits like raspberry, WineTime is the first I've ever tried that truly is gourmet, coming as close to a pure fresh chocolate, wine and raspberry mix as possible."

Philly BurbsA journalist at the Burlington County Times/Phillyburbs.com (on the New Jersey-Pennsylvania border) went all-out, explaining how the original idea for WineTime Bars was born. The writer also interviewed a local cardiologist and customers at a Vitamin Shoppe store who gave positive reviews. The bar was described as "heart-healthy for all the sweethearts on Valentine's Day lists."

Northside WomanIn Atlanta, Georgia, Northside Woman magazine gave the bars a four out of four stars rating and thought that they were "wonderful with a cup of coffee in the morning." The writer went on, "The bars are very dense, so it didn't leave me wanting something else to eat like a lot of other food bars. I think a WineTime bar would be a great option for women looking for a low-calorie, healthy addition to their diet."

Food columnist and blogger Sarah Lee on the celeabrity4recipes blog, wrote, "Take good care of your heart.and when chocolate cravings come knocking at your door, grab a WineTime bar, and SMILE!"

her NashvilleIn Nashville, Tennessee Her Nashville magazine wrote about both WineTime Bars and TravelTime Bars in a story titled, "Give your body a healthy boost."

The author commented, "TravelTime bar gives an extra kick of health that helps your body build up its defense line against colds." And added, "Whether you're already sniffling and sneezing or trying desperately to protect yourself from cold season, put away the antibacterial wipes and take a bite out of a WineTime or TravelTime bar. The bars are super yummy and your body will thank you."

Online, The Daily Forage gluten free blog carried an extensive review full of praise for both TravelTime Bars. Some excerpts:

"Upon opening the Almond Coffee with Chocolate Chips bar, I immediately had the sensation of being in a coffee house. The aroma was of strong, roasted coffee that, personally, brought about a "comfort" feeling. It was like tasting a great cup of well brewed coffee that has hints of nuttiness with undertones of chocolate."

"As for the Granola Citrus Burst, a 'burst' is precisely what I was met with when I opened the wrapping on this bar. Never have I experienced the 'freshness' of citrus from anything other than an actual piece of real citrus fruit. Whether you're looking for a 'burst of sunshine' or to settle in with a 'great cup of coffee' you'll know you're doing something delicious while treating your body to all the healthful rewards the TravelTime Bar has to offer."

Top Award for resVida®

resVida, the key source of resveratrol in the WineTime and TravelTime Bars, has won Nutrition Business Journal's Science Award for 2011. Nothing but the best for our bars!

NIH study discovers why resveratrol works

National Institutes of Health researchers have identified how resveratrol may confer its health benefits.

In a study published in the February 3rd edition of Cell scientific journal they presented evidence that resveratrol does not, as previously thought, directly activate sirtuin 1, a protein associated with aging. Rather, the authors found that resveratrol inhibits certain types of proteins known as phosphodiesterases (PDEs), enzymes that help regulate cell energy.

These findings may help settle the debate regarding resveratrol's biochemistry and pave the way for resveratrol-based medicines, said a press release from the NIH adding that resveratrol has received significant interest from pharmaceutical companies for its potential to combat diabetes, inflammation, and cancer. (We say: Eat a WineTime Bar!)

"Resveratrol has potential as a therapy for diverse diseases such as type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, and heart disease," said lead author Jay H. Chung, M.D., Ph.D., chief of the Laboratory of Obesity and Aging Research at the NIH's National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
