Warm Welcome Everywhere for WineTime Bars

From four star hotels to the front line in Afghanistan; from high-end grocery chains to unique country stores; from award-winning grocery groups to award-winning wineries-WineTime® Bars have made appearances all over the place this past month.

Coast-to-coast (and beyond) WineTime Bars are earning acclaim as word gets out about them. Media accolades such as, "delicious," "yummy," "decadent" and a healthy bonus (see below) also help!

Also of note this month is a study published in the British Journal of Nutrition indicating that resveratrol (the key ingredient in WineTime Bars) may be able to play a vital part in the battle against diabetes.

The Peabody Orlando

The Peabody is the latest fine hotel to make WineTime Bars available to its guests joining the Marriott Marquis and Loews Coronado hotels in San Diego, the Wynn, Las Vegas, Crown Plaza, Ravinia, Atlanta, and the Madonna Inn, San Luis Obispo.

The Peabody Orlando, a masterpiece of contemporary design and luxurious décor, is one of only two Forbes Four-Star, AAA Four Diamond hotels in the city and has established itself as the Orlando convention hotel of choice. And, yes, they have those world-famous Peabody Ducks whose march on the red carpet can be witnessed daily at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Spec's Wine, Spirits and Finer Foods

With over 70 locations all across the great state of Texas, Spec's has added WineTime Bars to its superb selection of wines, spirits, beers, liqueurs, cigars and, in its larger stores, fine gourmet foods. The crown jewel of the Spec's operation is their Warehouse Store in downtown Houston which boasts 80,000 sq feet of selling space.

Straub's

In Missouri you can now find WineTime Bars at the prestigious Straub's Markets. This award-winning fine grocer with four stores in St. Louis first opened its doors in 1901 and prides itself on offering the finest foods along with the best customer service in town! The family business continues to be owned and operated by the third and fourth generation, Jack W. Straub, Jr. and his son, J.W. "Trip" Straub, III.

Sonoita Vineyards

Overlooking 25 acres of vines, Sonoita Vineyard is located at the top of a scenic hill three miles south of Elgin, Arizona. While Arizona might not be the first area to spring to mind when you think of good wine the Sonoita soil is nearly identical to that of the Burgundy region in France. Opened in 1983 the winery produces highly-rated Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Mission, Sangiovese and Syrah. Attend one of their daily wine tastings and enjoy a WineTime Bar at the same time.

The Perfect Combination

The Muddy Moose Country Store in Wilkes-Barre, PA is carrying WineTime Bars as a result of customer demand. Says Karen Podrasky, "My customers have been coming in with newspaper clippings telling me that they really want the bars and that they're going to spread the word to their church groups and everywhere. They're health conscious and they love their chocolate and wine so this is perfect."

Afghanistan

Yes, Afghanistan. We took an order on behalf of one of our soldiers serving over there and have shipped a supply of both flavors to him. The main reason he wanted to try WineTime Bars? Because they're gluten free. And he often skips breakfast!

DEMOS and MORE DEMOS

BEAUTY FROM WITHIN

VEGAN

You'll often find WineTime Bars being demo'ed at Whole Foods Markets in four southern California locations-Hillcrest and La Jolla in San Diego county and Tustin and Huntington Beach in Orange County. Also at Mother's Market stores throughout Orange county as well as Jonathans, La Jolla and Harvest Ranch, Encinitas.

This is a new one. Resveratrol WineTime Bars for beautiful skin? Yes, according to Functional Ingredients magazine which named The WineTime Bar as one of its "10 nutricosmetic supplements for beautiful skin."

The mindbodygreen website reviewed protein bars for vegans and gave the Chocolate, Dates & Almonds bar an "A" for taste and "points for originality." Out of 14 bars reviewed only one got a better rating for taste-and that bar has twice as much fat as WineTime Bars. Only one other bar got recognized for originality!

GLUTEN FREE

WineTime Bars proved popular at the Gluten Allergen Free Expo in Charlotte North Carolina on April 30th.

DELICIOUS...YUMMY

Nikki M. Mascali, writing in Pennsylvania magazine, The Weekender, had some very nice things to say about the WineTime Bar. After listing all of the bars' attributes she went on to write: "So without anything seemingly bad, which is usually what makes most not-so-good-for-you foods taste good, how do WineTime bars actually taste?

"Really, really good. The chocolate raspberry smelled delicious and had a slight crunch with a rich chocolate taste and no overbearingly sweet raspberry tinge, while the dark chocolate, dates and almonds also smelled yummy and had the same chocolaty crunch as the chocolate raspberry bar plus ample bits of almonds and dates. They kept me full for a long time, which is always a good thing when it comes to nutrition and meal-replacement bars."

ON THE NET

Today's Diet & Nutrition magazine features WineTime Bars as an "Editor's Pick." They wrote: "This is 'medicine' that's not hard to swallow. The 190-calorie bars make a great snack; the health benefits are a bonus."

The Succulent Wife blog recommended WineTime Bars be included in Easter baskets for adults "who want to be indulged with delicacies."

Splash magazines included the WineTime Bar in their Chocolate Gift Guide for 2011 and in their Mother's Day Food & Beverage Gift Guide.

Foodspring website featured the WineTime Bar in its "Bite This" section... "now thanks to ResVez, Inc. you can eat your resveratrol in a decadent bar made of dark chocolate."

RESVERATROL RESEARCH

Resveratrol may well have a role to play in curbing the diabetes epidemic. That's the hope based on a new human clinical trial published in the British Journal of Nutrition. A daily dose of just 10 milligrams of resveratrol (far less than the amount in each WineTime Bar) was associated with reductions in insulin resistance in type-2 diabetics.

"The present study shows for the first time that resveratrol improves insulin sensitivity in humans, which might be due to a resveratrol-induced decrease in oxidative stress that leads to a more efficient insulin signalling via the Akt pathway," concluded the researchers from the University of Pécs in Hungary. "(It) definitely suggests that resveratrol could become a useful tool in gaining a deeper understanding of the mechanisms underlying the development of insulin resistance and oxidative stress."

For their study the Hungarian researchers recruited 19 type-2 diabetics and randomly assigned them to receive either resveratrol supplements (two 5 milligram doses per day) or placebo. After four weeks the participants given resveratrol showed a significant decrease in insulin resistance, compared to the placebo group.

Resveratrol may reduce body fat levels by preventing the formation of fat tissue, reports NUTRAingredients-usa.com. In a six week trial scientists fed two groups of lab rats a high fat diet. While body weight at the end of the trial was similar those rats who had consumed resveratrol every day had significantly less body fat.

"It is important to point out that the effective dose in our experimental design, as well as those used by other authors, is far greater than the amount usually ingested by humans (100-930 micrograms per day), meaning that the positive effects of this molecule on body fat would only be achieved by the intake of resveratrol pills or functional foods enriched with this molecule," write the researchers from the University of País Vasco in Valencia in Nutrition & Metabolism.

The Valencia-based scientists divided 16 rats into two equal groups. Both groups were fed an obesity-inducing diet, but one group had their diet supplemented with resveratrol (30 milligrams per kilogram of body weight per day). A reduction in the activity of enzymes linked to fat production was also observed in the resveratrol-fed animals.
