Thousands of Visitors Flock to the Fancy Food Show
|

More than 17,000 people visited the Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco—one of the major specialty food events of the year. And it seemed to us that a great many of the attendees stopped by the WineTime booth to sample the new bar. The booth was constantly busy.

We are extremely pleased with the response we received from specialty food stores, major grocery chains, gift basket companies, hoteliers, wineries, distributors, brokers--and the media. For us it was a great pleasure making so many new contacts and cementing existing relationships.

|
Malcolm was even interviewed by a Colombian TV show (see picture). The other photo shows Sandy in front of the booth, which she designed. Our thanks to Richard Allen, Andie Grayson, Tim Howe, Donna MacPherson and Patricia Radford for their help.

In the News
The WineTime Bar continues to garner great media coverage in trade journals, nutrition magazines, online and even the business press.
ˇ Natural Products Marketplace magazine kicked off an article headlined “Gluten-Free Just a Fad?” with a quote from Sandy saying it was a wise business decision for us to make WineTime Bars gluten-free and dairy-free—although originally she just wanted to develop products that she could eat!! There is a market of people, too, who don’t have allergies but want gluten-free, she said, adding, “It's a major plus to have these statements on your label.”
ˇ Nutraceuticals World magazine included the WineTime Bar in its January/February edition cover story “What’s Next in Nutrition Bars?” The story featured a photo of the Chocolate-Raspberry Bar and listed it in a category called “Increasingly Functional.
ˇ Food Processing magazine announced “the nationwide launch” of the new bar.
ˇ The Tan Sheet, the OTC industry's leading business and regulatory news publication in a piece about resveratrol mentioned the WineTime Bar by name—the only product to gain that distinction. Reto Reider, a senior marketing manager with DSM, said the resVidaŽ (that’s in the bar) is differentiated from other sources of resveratrol because of its safety profile and ongoing human clinical study program.
ˇ Familygoesstrong.com previewed the Fancy Food show: “One trend that seems strong year after year is the evolution of chocolate from a kid’s obsession to a luxurious and sophisticated treat for grown-ups. We noted three interesting -- okay, wildly, exciting -- launches…ResVez has taken chocolate’s health benefits up a few notches with its Resveratrol WineTime Bar…”
ˇ VegNews magazine blog “This Just In” announced the arrival of the Chocolate-Raspberry WineTime Bar.

Uniquely positioned…indulgent
Among the extremely positive reviews for the Chocolate-Raspberry bar was a four out of five star rating from the industry website barsarefood.com.
Its reviewer wrote, “The brand is uniquely positioned as a sort of healthy, adult treat…ResVez, the makers of this bar, have really not skimped on the ingredients…The bar contains 8g of fiber and 4g of protein. To put 8g of fiber in perspective, that is about as much as you would get in the popular FiberOne bars. The flavor of WineTime is good. This is about as indulgent of a high fiber bar as you’ll find.”

Other reviewers wrote, “Judging by taste alone you’d never guess these bars were so healthy and good for you,” and “Brimming with flavor and all manner of good things, this is the bar to reach for when snacking that truly does it all.”

WineTime Triumphs at Tasty Awards

For the second year in a row the WineTime Bar was the “Official Gourmet Nutrition Bar” of the Tasty Awards, the event which honors the year’s best achievements in food and fashion on television, in film, and online. One of the organizers, Laura Terry-Green, wrote to say: “Thank you for participating. Your WineTime Bars were absolutely amazing.”

Hotels Make Room for the Bars

The San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina was the first major hotel to take note of the extra value that WineTime Bars provide. They use them in gift baskets for their VIP guests (who often ask for more!). Anthony Pursley who is in charge of amenities wrote to tell us, “Thank you very much for creating such wonderful products. I look forward to ordering more soon. I will order your newest addition on my next order.” |
Meanwhile, The Madonna Inn, a landmark resort and hotel on California’s central coast (San Luis Obispo) now carries WineTime Bars in its Classic Gourmet and Wine Store.
