Foodie Highlights - Sept/Oct 2011                                            Jan/Feb 2011
sept2011 highlights

A busy summer indeed, starting it off on assignment for the Georgia Straight Magazine, with the cover shot featuring mixologist Danielle Tatarin at The Keefer Bar as well as Top Chef Canada Dale MacKay at his Ensemble Restaurant and Gastown restaurant master Mark Brand seated here at the revived Save on Meats Diner. We photographed the breakfast menu for The Pantry and some modern Asian eats at Ming and Sing. Lamb chops and many more succulent recipes by Carol Jensson and Judie Glick while shooting The (New) Granville Island Cookbook, due out this spring published by Arsenal Pulp Press. Finally a little something sweet, working with the pros at Fluid Creative we had Christmas in July, shooting these festive holiday mince meat tarts for Hansell's Foods.

Tips Tricks & Techniques

burgergrilling

Grilling season (almost) behind us, we still need a little help on set. The charcoal BBQ starter, seen here on the left, can be found at almost any hardware store, and is what we use to achieve the (pretty) perfect grill marks often seen on burgers .....any time of the year.

Foodie Favorites
sept2011 faves

This month's faves celebrate the release of Tastefully Indian, Daksha Narsing's line of spices expertly interpreted in a series of recipes that reflect global flavors with Ayurvedic influences, and all the recipes are gluten free! A few days shooting with Daksha in the Foodie studio (our fourth cookbook shoot together) and my taste buds are buzzing.

Beverage

mango smoothie

These hearty smoothies were photo-  berry smoothie

graphed as part of an ad campaign I

worked on for Ryza rice milk. The

challenge here was to develop recipes  highlighting the nutritious qualities of

rice milk, while keeping it dairy and

soy free. Peach mango on the left

gets a lift with hemp protein powder

and a duo of berry flavors, on the

right show off a layered look.

Sweet Endings

home pies

It's the typical conversation piece when you walk into a home style restaurant...the "ooohs and aaahhs" upon sight of these meringued mile high pies flaunting themselves in the rotating display case. With the pro art direction of Roxy Design we managed to restrain ourselves and get these pies photographed for the updated menus at Home Restaurants.

Last Course

Celebrating 14 years in Vancouver this September! cake
With so many opportunities and learning experiences
......speckled in with some serious hard work, it's
certainly been a journey since I first started out in
1997. My craft is ever evolving, business is still growing and the acknowledgment of all my dedicated colleagues and clients is only surpassed by my gratitude!
Thank You.
