Foodie Highlights - Summer 2011                                            Jan/Feb 2011
summer2011-highlight

Delving into summer with a more relaxed schedule here are a few highlights from the past month. First up we were in the studio shooting Hills Foods outstanding free run chicken ballotine, followed by Chef Dana Reinhardt's beautifully plated recipes for Sea to Sky Seasonings, where here glazed BBQ ribs get the smoked salt treatment. Off and running with Georgia Straight assignments, a shoot at the new (and still fab "kitsch-cool") Slickity Jim's "Chat n Chew" new Main street location, as well as the long anticipated Hawksworth Restaurant. A few days on set at Mr.Mikes, shooting their classics along a few new dishes such as this healthful chicken teriyaki. And just recently, an expertly catered event by the pros at Culinary Capers where sablefish dresses it up with North Indian spices and a tangy coconut yogurt sauce.

Hospitality Hotspot

summer2011-hospit  I recently spent a few days at the Galley Patio in the Jericho Sailing Center- shooting the friendly service, good eats (along with a well crafted beer selection) and stellar view from this gem of a patio. A little taste of the summer season soon upon us.

Beverage
chelada beer
Beer (the ultimate social lubricant) is lightened up just in time for summer sipping. Add a little ice, lime and salt to Lager and the result is this Chelada, a variation of the Mexican inspired Michelada.
