| National Night Out |
A Success!
This year 26 neighborhood-based National Night Out (NNO) events were held with an estimated participation by more than 1,500 residents. The Schaumburg Park District joined the village by hosting a "community" event at MeinekePark and Pool. This provided a place to go for residents who did not have an NNO party in their own neighborhood. Village elected officials, police command and patrol officers, the Schaumburg Fire Department, McGruff the Crime Dog, and the Crash Test Dummies visited the neighborhood events. Generous corporate donations were received from the Pepsi Corporation, Target, McDonald's, and Dairy Queen. All corporate donations were provided to the neighborhood-based parties to enhance their events. NNO is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support in anticrime programs, and strengthen neighborhood spirit.
