22,323 H-1B Cap-Subject Petitions Received by USCIS in TWO Days!
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services began accepting H-1B Cap Petitions on April 2, 2012 for Fiscal Year 2013.

USCIS has informed the American Immigration Lawyers Association that
22,323 Cap-Subject Petitions had already been received as of April 4th. Approximately 25% of these applications fell into the U.S. Master's Exemption. This means that about 17,000 "regular" cap cases have been received.

Each Fiscal Year, the government may only issue 65,000 new H-1B visas. An additional 20,000 are set aside for graduates of U.S. Master's degree programs.

Last year, 17,000 regular cap cases had been received by June 2011. This clearly shows that there will be a dramatic increase in usage this year.

Based on filing trends at the end of FY 2012,
immigration practitioners are predicting that the cap may not last past June 1, 2012. If you are planning on obtaining a new H-1B visa in this Fiscal Year, we strongly recommend that you file as soon as possible.

If you are an employer interested in hiring a foreign worker under the FY 2013 H-1B Cap, now is the time to contact us!

Sincerely,
