Welcome Back!

We hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and is looking forward to an exciting year ahead. Thank you to all No Regrets teams who completed the fall progress report. We take your feedback seriously and greatly appreciate the time you took to fill it out. It looks like many teams have big plans for 2012! Don't forget to send in pictures or videos of your activities and events- you might be featured on our Facebook page or in an upcoming newsletter!
The youth team is committed to supporting all of our No Regrets teams, and we encourage you to email us with any questions, concerns, or ideas on how we can better support the program in your school. Also, keep an eye out for your team's winter boost box, which was shipped from our office early last week!

Project Ignition Winners
As many of you know, we had an impressive number of No Regrets teams apply for 2011-12 Project Ignition grants. All of the applications were excellent and we are extremely proud of the hard work that went into their completion.
We would like to congratulate the No Regrets teams at Burlington Central High School and École Secondaire Catholique Algonquin, who were selected by Project Ignition as two of their Top 25 Schools for 2011-12! These schools will be receiving $2000 each to help implement their teen driver safety campaigns!

A New Year's Resolution
As we begin a new year, let's take a moment to reflect back: what are the three silliest risks you and your friends have taken in the past year? It might have been speeding, texting, using a handheld cellular device or simply not wearing a seatbelt while driving. It might have been running across the street on a red light to school or work, attempting to avoid the oncoming traffic. It might have been letting the wind fly through your hair when you rode your bike across the trail without a helmet on.
Preventable injuries account for over 300,000 emergency room visits, 13,000 hospitalizations, and 700 deaths each year among Canadian teens. By managing just three of the risks you find yourself taking most often, you can help to decrease these numbers. As you settle into the New Year, make one last resolution: make handling your risk your responsibility. Because a smart risk life is a fun one, and alert today means alive tomorrow.
