Apply Now for a

Project Ignition Grant

By now, all No Regrets teams in Alberta, Ontario, and New Brunswick have heard about Project Ignition, the $2,000 service-learning grant from State Farm Insurance to any high school based teen safe driving program. If you live in one of these provinces, make sure you jump online and put together an application - rest assured, we'll help you all along the way! Applications can be found at www.sfprojectignition.com, or by emailing edriscoll@smartrisk.ca.

Wondering what you could spend $2,000 on? Here are some ideas:

  • Any tool that would help you implement your injury prevention activity, like Fatal Vision goggles or materials for eye-catching displays
  • Gift items that could be used as prizes or giveaways during a No Regrets /Project Ignition signature event
  • Branded T-shirts, scarves, or hats for your No Regrets/Project Ignition teams
  • Promotional posters and material for the 2012 distracted driving video competition
  • Use a portion of your funds to help bring a No Regrets Live presentation to your school - click here to check out the show trailer

Do you have any other creative ideas? Just reply to this newsletter and share your thoughts!

Update on the Youth Team

The SMARTRISK youth team is out and about this fall, not only conducting training sessions across the country, but also attending conferences to learn and gain support for our award winning programs. Here are some of the events we are at:

Hamilton Youth Engagement Conference: A No Regrets Live presenter and youth team staff will be pairing up to present the No Regrets Live show and injury prevention theory to high school leaders from all across the Hamilton area.

Not By Accident Conference: SMARTRISK's research and youth teams are pairing up to present the success of SMARTRISK's programming and the research behind it. Click here to learn more about the Not By Accident Conference.

Canadian Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion Conference: A key organizer in the conference, SMARTRISK will be attending and presenting at the national conference, which invites industry professionals from all across the country to attend. Some former No Regrets and Live participants will be panellists on a discussion all about engaging youth in injury prevention strategies in communities across Canada.  Click here to learn more about the Canadian Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion Conference.

Check Out the New SMARTRISK No Regrets Website!

The new SMARTRISK No Regrets website was launched earlier this month. The site has been updated to reflect the changes that we have made to the program over the summer. It also has all of the resources you'll need to run the No Regrets program in your school! Click here to check it out and let us know what you think!

A special thanks to State Farm! Without their generous support, our new and improved website would not have been possible.

Injury Issues Assessment

and Reporting

The youth team has run several training sessions for our No Regrets schools over the past few weeks. We hope that all of these teams are excited, and feel prepared to run the program in your schools!

Now is the time for team members to go out into your school community and implement the injury issues assessment. Feel free to send us an email or post on our No Regrets Facebook page and let us know what injury issues your team will be focusing on this year.

You'll also have an opportunity to let us know how your No Regrets team is doing in the upcoming December report. Keep a lookout for the link in your mailbox before school lets out for the holidays.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about the No Regrets program in your school, send us an email and we will be happy to help!
