Take a moment to complete your school's Final Progress Report!!
 | |
Click on the picture to complete your school's Final Progress Report - it should take less then five minutes!
|
After a year of what we hope was filled with successes and lessons learned, we now invite you to complete your school's Final Progress Report. The survey has been revised and improved to ensure that we capture the most important feedback in the swiftest manner possible. Although the progress report has always been a brief survey, this latest copy is less then half as long as the previous two reports and should now take you under five minutes to complete. We hope that all schools can complete the report within the next two weeks (before June 10). As usual, any student or staff adviser from your school can complete the report, and multiple responses are always welcome! Lastly, to wrap up the No Regrets program at your school this year, SMARTRISK will be sending each school a "Certificate of Outstanding Leadership" - it is important that each school answers the last question in the survey, which asks how many of these certificates each team will need. If the question is not answered then your school will receive a default of two for each student leader that attended training. Thanks! |
Gearing up for next year's training sessions Did you have a fantastic No Regrets program at your school this year? Are you excited to pass on the torch to a new set of student leaders? If so, spread the word to your friends, classmates and those in younger grades to speak to your staff adviser about participating in the SMARTRISK No Regrets program at your school next year. Make sure to have a plan for next year, including selecting the leadership team, a willing staff adviser, and an initial meeting date!
For those receiving training in Fall 2011, it will take place in one of two main formats:
1) Face to face training sessions will be held in various clusters across the country. This training is reserved mostly for first year schools or schools with special circumstances.
2) Webinar training sessions will take place place over the internet, complete with slide show presentations, time for discussion and possibly a live video feed from our head office.
Over the next few weeks, stay on the lookout for invitational emails and follow up phone calls to secure your school's spot in one of our Fall training sessions. In the meanwhile, please email noregrets@smartrisk.ca if you have any questions, comments or concerns! |

SMARTRISK teams up with Canadian Forces Snowbirds
 | |
SMARTRISK President and CEO Dr. Phil Groff poses with the Canadian Forces Snowbirds in Moose Jaw, Sask. earlier this month.
|
Days before the Canadian Forces Snowbirds took to the skies this month to begin their 41st air show season, SMARTRISK President and CEO, Philip Groff, was delighted to fly to Moose Jaw, Sask., to meet with the team. Dr. Groff follows in the footsteps of SMARTRISK founder - and Honorary Snowbird - Dr. Robert Conn, who began the tradition of visiting the Snowbirds annually, to ensure all new recruits get to know SMARTRISK and the special relationship we maintain.
The Snowbirds are founding Ambassadors of SMARTRISK. Our relationship with Canada's iconic air demonstration team dates back to 1994. In fact, the Tutor jets the pilots fly each have a SMARTRISK stickman logo painted on the aircraft behind the canopy - click on the quick link of the month to see some fantastic footage!
According to their website, as SMARTRISK Ambassadors, the Snowbirds "speak to students about managing risk. They talk about the importance of gear, training and attitude in preparation for each flight and the concentration needed to carry through their precision-timed manoeuvres."
SMARTRISK staff will join with the Snowbirds at a public event in Toronto in the leadup to the air show at the Canadian National Exhibition. We'll also be working together at a Gatineau, Que., event, bringing in a No Regrets Live show to coincide with an air show event. And at least one event is in the works involving No Regrets teams from six schools in the North Bay, Ont., area.
The Snowbirds will fly in about 55 shows in 31 locations across Canada and the United States this year. We encourage you to get out and enjoy this always exciting and impressive spectacle of smart risk taking.

Please email us or post your photos!!!
As the school year comes to a close, we here at SMARTRISK are eager to see more photos of all the fantastic work that each and every one of you has been up to. We have already received some outstanding images from schools across the country, like the snapshot below from Oshawa Central Collegiate Institute showing off their 'Wear the Gear Fashion Show'.
If you have great shots like these from your activities over the course of the year, please send them to noregrets@smartrisk.ca or post them on our Facebook page. Thanks in advance!
