Training, Training, Training!

Oshawa, October 5.

SMARTRISK No Regrets staff have been busy on the road, hosting training sessions in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; Oshawa, Ontario; London, Ontario; Kelowna, British Columbia; and Augustine Cove, Prince Edward Island. Student leaders and staff advisers gathered together from surrounding communities to discuss the issue of injury, get acquainted with the SMARTRISK Five Key messages, and share ideas about team building and hosting activities.

Each training session was jam packed with information and energizers throughout the day and participants were given a chance to reflect at the end. Congratulations to Rutland Secondary School, who currently hold the Minute-to-Win-it record with 31.8 seconds!

Project Ignition Logo

Project Ignition is a service-learning program focused on teen driver safety, funded by State Farm and coordinated by the National Youth Leadership Council in the United States. Last year, five schools in Ontario were awarded grants, one of which was invited to attend the National Service-Learning Conference in San Jose, California, to present their project.

This year, in partnership with SMARTRISK and State Farm, Project Ignition is eager to expand in Ontario, Alberta, and New Brunswick, inviting schools in these provinces to apply for a $2,000 grant to implement initiatives encouraging teen driver safety. Applications are due by November 15 - send a quick note to nsobhani@smartrisk.ca to get more information today!
